He is one of the bodies lying in the museum. Usually on the first floor near the stairs. Check every body you see in the museum. For the other: Check the the canal very carefully near the two gates the key opens.
There is loot in the vault.
Lurker
Don't kill the women in white, if you have read the scrolls and the other books, you should remember the part about the Greater Vampires becoming more dangerous if destroyed. THEY BECOME, AND ARE THE WHITE MIST. They can be done in, and there are some Black ones with fire hands, but don't. The Karate stalker is not killable, but has an interesting side effect if you fight it.
Something has gone amiss because there are
2 dead guards on the first floor of the museum and neither one has the key or a lantern. Guess I will have to settle with not being able to access the vault.
Regarding the
hole in the canal - you mentioned gates two keys open. Are these underwater gates? Can you be a little more specific?
Thanks!

The guard, dead or otherwise, has the key. Set your controls for "AUTOSEARCH" if you have not. If on normal search, then examine the bodies from every angle and height. (crouch, lean, stand etc.) The key is there but you need to have "AUTO" on or move around the body inch by inch at different angles.
If you made it into the cathedral in time, and delivered your package, you should explore the area well. There is a particular KEY that you should have found that will explain the "Canal" issue.
In written material you will or should have found, is mention of an amulet and the actions that the Cardinal has taken regarding searchers for it.
Read here if you need details:
The canals were locked by the Cardinal to keep divers from searching the area for the amulet. The key is on a desk in the cathedral. As you leave the cathedral by the water landing, there will be a gate to the left. You need the "canal" key to open it. Down the canal toward the Black Die, is a second gate. Same story. If you already have these gates open then search near them very carefully.
thanks for the info. Unfortunately I already have the "autosearch" mode on but still no
key. Strange to say the least! Do not know where the guard disappeared to. Also, opened the gates already but will go back and search again.
Thanks!

I'd like a little help, tho, please...
Going into the museum was (is) one of the last things I'm doing...all other objectives are complete except
finding the Red Arrow painting which I assume is in the 4th floor vault.
All other objectives are complete which means there are
ghouls and nasties roaming the streets now, and all outside guards are dead.
So, there's no sign of this guard with the light that I've read of and
the key to the upper vault (I've also found the Ultraviolet Seeing Eye).
So, how to get in up there? Or have I created a bug? I've also not been able to get into
the police station vault or the gated garden in the south yet.
Thanks! :thumb:

Once you get into the museum, (alive and well, hopefully)
On the body of one of the dead guards inside you will find the key. The lantern is bye bye by this time. So search the guards. He is usually the one in the archway to the left by the stairs.
You will need the EYE for the vault.
If you look carefully at the chairs in the office at the police station, you MAY find the key. According to some, if you did not pickpocket Mercedes when she left your room, you won't find the key. But it's no big deal. You can complete the mission without the contents of that safe.
For the gate garden in Hollow lane, step up to the gate. Use the TELESCOPIC EYE (no weapons in hand) and look straight back above the chair. Use the same technique you used to open the gate in the police station. A broadhead to the red button.
klatremus on 3/11/2003 at 10:21
It's actually better to use a water arrow to open the station gate. The broadhead will alert the guard inside.
klatremus, Thanks for the tip. Here's one for you.
Some missions where you run out of broadheads, and have nothing to take out spiders or other beasties can get nasty. BUT!. Rope arrows often work. So if you are short BH's then try the Rope if you have a few spares.
Works well on the spiders in Karras's Diary. LOL
You've got a problem. If it didn't check off when it should have, it never will. Are you using ver. 1.18 of T2 or have you patched your game up to that version? The most common cause of this is playing it with an unpatched T2. Some people have experienced this problem even with the patch applied. If that's the case, then the easiest thing to do is to finish completing the rest of the objectives, then use "Ctrl+Alt+Shift+End" to end the mission and go on to Mission 3.

The key to the vault
is usually on the body of the guard lying dead at the foot of the stairs to the left as you enter the museum. He is usually lying just in the arch to the foyer with the statue and fountain.
Check the body(s) closely and you should find the key. The lantern usually disappears when the zombies do him in, so that's not a clue. It is a guard with a sword, not an archer.
