Well dang, that's practically the entire town! What the heck is the point of being able to sneak the Blackjack out of the apartment if you can't knock anyone out? I guess I'll have to re-do it on a lower difficulty level that doesn't prevent killing...
Oh, does having your pet zombie from the vampire gem kill them count? Cause I could do that instead. For a while I thought he was allowed inside the museum with me cause the guards ignored him, but he went after and killed them so they tried to kill me too! Stupid zombie.

A pet zombie rampage should not be a problem. Those are not
your kills. :ebil:

At least you got a pet zombie. I never figured out how to do it. I guess necromancy isn't my evil of expertise.

Thanks people for the advice with my problem, I just redid the mission without KOing anyone OR using the zombie. Ghosting that museum was so much fun.
Diw6, to summon your pet zombie, you need
The vampire eye, which is found in the jewelry store on Knife Street, IIRC. Just select it and right click, and you get a zombie! But if he dies, you get no more zombie. You only get a skeletal foot for some reason.
I never figured out the deal with not being able to pick anyone's pockets in the first mission, so I'd just KO them when no1 else was looking and then hid the body. No problems at all!
This FM is practically the only one I've bothered to play multiple times. I really love it. It's just a shame that you cant
summon your pet zombie using the Zjilich amulet. I also found the Ghoul's eye ability to be useful too. Perfect for luring them into a dark zone, circling around them and poking them in the back with the Kharras Drahg.
I'm doing "Midnight in Murkbell" on the hardest difficulty, and have finished every other mission except the one where you have to steal the painting:
I can't find the key to the door of the corridor that leads to it. According to a walkthrough I read there is a supposed be a guard somewhere around the museum area who has the key, but I've looked around the outskirts and can't seem to find anything. Apparently the carnage spilled in to that area of the town and the guard was drawn off somewhere completely different. Does Thief have some cheat where I can just "summon" the key, or some sort of "noclip" so I can get through the gate, or just any way to do this without searching every corner of the city for a random corpse?
SlyFoxx on 16/1/2008 at 13:19
No such cheat I'm afraid. If I remember correctly the guard is a blue female archer.
(so much for my memory! :o: )
If you want to move on, in game mode hit Ctrl+Alt+Shift+End to win the mission.

Not correct, the guard with the vault room key is a male swordsman. He is the one carrying a lantern.
If he heard some kind of battle outside and joined it, his corpse can´t be that far from the museum entrance, can it? By far the most common cause of his death is the mummies inside the museum. I´ve found his corpse in the museum every time

I might try a final search around that area, but there no real way to tell what happened, as he might have got wounded and managed to flee across half the city or fell in some part of the canal (like I accidentally caused a couple of undead to do) or something. If I can't I'll guess I'll try that level skip cheat, assuming that destroying the Cylix ends the mission normally (if not, I'll have to do more looking). Thanks.
Edit: Like you said, I found him as a corpse in the museum, who I had somehow managed to overlook. Unfortunately, while I was able to do that mission I got the "level not finishing" bug related to the Thief 2 version you have, so I ended up having to level skip anyway.

I'm doing Midnight in Murkbell and need to get the Cylix back. I was told that the cardinal and the Cylix are supposed to be in the cemetery, and after slowly making my way through the entire city, dodging what felt like a few dozen undead on the way, I can't find them. After looking at a walkthrough, I got the impression that I was actually supposed to enter through the cathedral and EXIT through the graveyard, which means I'm in the wrong place and have to dodge another umpteen zombies to get back on the right track, which I really, really don't feel like doing. Please tell me there is an entrance that is accessible from the cemetery side!
I can tell that this is a well-made FM, but since I've never been particularly fond of the undead, I'm starting to feel that it may simply not be my cup of tea.

Yes, you can get to the Cylix from either side (provided you have the means to get into the cemetary.
But I certainly prefer going from the Cathedral side. While there are a couple of enemies to avoid, the Cardinal´s Throne Room is a lot easier to negotiate from the Cathedral side. Getting to the Cathedral area from your position is easy. Just swim there - the canals are free from enemies.
