Ah, gotta try to hide in the elevator for that pickpocket. Nice tip! I usually steal that key by hiding on top of the large boxes in the room with Jortul's mummy in it - spending an inviso potion as the guard walks in the room and then I hop down on my 2x moss arrowed floor.
This is a very challenging mission for a no-reloads freak like me. I've still never managed to pull off a no-reloads run, but I've been very close a couple of times.

My hat's off to you, jiansonz :wot: To do all that, without constantly reloading, let's just say I personally live by reload :) My Garrett is not much of a fighter, either. Just give me some decent weapons, though ...:joke:

I played Part 2 through dromed not too long ago without dying or cheating. :p

I decided to see how good a fighter Cardinal Alcandor is. Through the hole in the floor above his lair, I took out a couple of his mummies with holy water- and fire arrows. That stirred Alcandor enough that he started coming after me.
For some reason, the exit door to the cemetary (the one you normally open from inside by frobbing a skull) was closed again, so for every time I wanted to reload and try the fight again, I smashed the door five times with my sword. Alcandor was right behind it.
Yup, he's indeed pretty damn lethal. He's not nearly as fast as that shiny blue undead apparition, but he's much faster than any standard mage AI. His spell projectiles are affected by gravity, making them MUCH harder to avoid than usual mage projectiles. And one hit is enough to take out all my 10 HP.
The easiest (but most expensive) way to defeat him is (of course) with the amulet, but that takes TWO charges!
One more thing I discovered this playthrough: One of the vampyre mists I encountered in my AI survey/vanquish 16 years ago (referred to by Roz five posts back from this one) is actually a male greater vampyre. He patrols the area with the mill S of the smelting factory.
The reason I saw him this playthrough is in large because I had lured away almost all sword guards and gotten them to drown in the canal, by that platform you can mantle up to from the water, a little NW of Vilhrath's Garden. So when this guy spawned, there was only an archer along his patrol route, and not an archer and two sword guards.
(It's pretty clear that in my run 16 years ago, the guards must have defeated the vampyre's mage form (strength in numbers, and they have the advantage if they manage to close in on him). That's why I saw him as mist back then.)
So the correct numbers in the list should be:
3 Male Greater Vampyres (fire mages, look somewhat like Keepers)
1 Vampyre Mist

Hello, I need help. I'm playing on Garrett difficulty. I got all the objectives done except getting the painting from the museum vault. Vault is open but some fireball is killing me and there's no way I can see around that.
downwinder on 29/10/2020 at 19:57
shooot fireball with water arrow
Taffey on 29/10/2020 at 20:15
Sadly it's not THAT kind of a fireball.
Grandmauden on 29/10/2020 at 23:31
The museum vault has invisible lasers that set off the fireball trap. To avoid them, you need a special tool hidden not too far from the museum. Hint: search the street west of the museum.
