Never had that one luckily. You were actually aiming through the gun right? (Seems obvious but I spent a good long while peering at the horizon before I tried that)

Yeah, it's a known bug with certain computer configurations. I've had it on my old 7900 SLI rig and my 8800GTS rig.
Apparently the only way around it is to download a save file.
Such a shame, as I love the game up to this point.
Sure, the graphics may look a bit out-dated (a lot wouldn't be out of place in Quake 2 engined games), but the atmosphere generated by the art direction and sound is incredible.
One of the things that stands out the most for me is the vertigo effects; more games need to take cues from this.

Not only vertigo, but also fear, pain, and shock. Really innovative and realized excellently. Also I loved absence of any HUD.

I still never managed to get off of the boat thanks to that damn bug where you can't see the targets on the shore
Even though I never experienced the problem, I believe you still still can destroy the 3 mages if you approximately know where they are. Utter accuracy isn't required there. BTW, the ship level is one of the most gorgeous, difficult, and unnerving levels in the game.

Sadly, I abandoned this game when I couldn't get past that ambush at the hotel. I tried it a hundred times... Maybe I should reinstall it.

The texturing and the engine doesn't work that well with the dark... er lighting they're going for, it's true (Thief(s) have this problem as well in places). It's a game that would have suited the HDR/Iris era much better (Stalker does a lot of similar things with lighting and post effects)
And yeah, the post effects were alarmingly effective. I found myself automatically averting my eyes from anything potentially disturbing (corpses, ugly things), just like real life. The asylum bits are terrific too.

It's quite easy believe me, but only when you know where you're supposed to run to and what doors you should lock or block. It's a trial and error section (as most of the game BTW), and also incredibly panic one :) I had to restart it many times too when I played the game for the first time. Anyone with steady nerves who abandoned the game because of its hardness should try it again, it's bloody fantastic and rewarding. No way Crysis with all its fancy graphics can provide even half of the "I'm there" feeling as this game.

Same here.

A. It doesn't.
B. If you think it does suck, that's your loss. Plenty of people really enjoy(ed) it.
C. Still waiting for your (

A. I wanted to play a survival horror/fps with a lovecrafian theme, not an interactive version of Groundhog Day with added timed jumping puzzles.
B. Lots of people enjoy [insert whatever you wish]. Instead of saying the game sucks, I could go all E-Prime on you and say "from my point of view, the game shows certain characteristics of "suck" in multiple areas, diminishing my personal enjoyment of it to a level below my acceptance". But what's the point?
C. Sorry about the delay, but after an initial hour with the game I postponed playing it and am now waiting for the publisher to comment on the botched translation. I'ts pretty much Pathologic all over again, only this time with the polish localization. Hope the english version fares better, as the actual game seems to be quite interesting so far.

Oh man, it's exactly what it is, true survival horror. The best (and scariest) interactive representation of Cthulhu Myphos theme so far, I think it's actually better than books in terms of immersion and atmosphere, and of course MUCH better than any lovecraftian movie.
For players who like hard games at least. Yes, the game certainly isn't friendly to players, they need to figure a lot of things on they own (which I like)
