From TheHoodedClaw re: differences between the X-Box and PC versions:

Its not been massively enhanced, however the texture fidelity does look higher on the PC version. A number of bug fixes were included as well.
That's certainly encouraging, now I just have to get a new power supply to run the new video card I bought that's been collecting dust on a shelf while I try to scrounge up the dough. :(

Damn. Was just reading about Headfirst having gone under :(
The "gone into administration" link mentioned above really says everything... Sounds like things were a mess at the company :/
Still, unless there are showstopper bugs with the PC port, I figure I'll be buying it. I wonder if there's a hope in hell of getting them to release the source code with it? In any case, thank goodness for TheHoodedClaw!

Too bad that Headfirst have gone under but I'm glad that the game will be out on PC soon. I have it preordered. Have been looking forward to this for a very long time.

i committed a heresy (Cthulhu have mercy on me!) - i opted to buy Oblivion instead of CoC for now... with the instability of the nature of the development of CoC, i opted to wait and see how the reviews pan out (in terms of bugs).

Well, as it looks there will be no patches coming out for CoC. It's a take it or leave it situation. I'd rather take it. I hope it will work fine on my computer. I have read some reviews for the Xbox version and it seems that Headfirst got it about right.
Thing is, I have been looking forward to this game for a long time, ever since I heard about it a couple of years ago. I used to play Pen and Paper CoC and it was soo cool. Now I wan't to relive the experience on the computer instead. DCOTE use the Chaosium rules fron the Pen and Paper CoC so it will be interesting to see hoe they have pulled it of in the computer.

Woah, don't be expecting any kind of RPG gameplay out of this one (unless you count sneaking around for the first three hours). You do have some NPC interaction, particularly in said three hours, but you have no conversation choices or similar. You don't really have stats either.
This is very much an FPS, although it's at a slightly slower pace than your normal type of shooter, and a bit more emphasis is placed on puzzles.
That said, I fully agree with this one:

No, I don't look forward to any RPG gameplay. I look forward to the suspence of never knowing what will happen and possibly not even knowing if what I think is happening is in fact happening or just some insane ramblings of my brain. I look forward to uncovering something so disturbing that I might have to turn the lights back on ;)
I look forward to an FPS adventure that gets my nerves tingling :)
I look forward to an FPS where I will have to think and not just react, there's too few of those around.
