So where in the world do you buy this game anyway for the PC? Nobody has it. :p
It was released in europe late last week (I got it on the 23rd). As I understand it, it is released in the USA today. Unless your talking about the Xbox version which has been available since November 2005.

I just checked Amazon and all they have it the Xbox version. I didn't have too much luck anywhere else. It is for the PC version.

The PC version date in the US is today or tomorrow, if I remember correctly.

Although it is so far an adventure it is not always slow paced. Yesterday I played through the most frantic scene in a game I have ever played. I was hunted and had no means to defend myself. I had to move through buildings, barricading myself in rooms, jumping out of windows etc. All the while beeing chased. And as there are no quick-saves I had to get past this frantic scene to get to the saving point. I must have died a hundred times (slight exaggeration) before I finally made it to safety. :thumb:
Definately one of the most intense moments in the game.
Stupid locks, why are they so small!?

Just curious as to whether anyone has encountered a serious bug in the PC version of DCotE? Local release date was been pushed back a week it seems, so I have a little bit longer to decide...
edit: to semi-answer my own question, I found (
http://www.callingcthulhu.com/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=1516) this review which contains a section on bugs (starting just above the screenshot). There are some spoilers in the descriptions, but I've forgotten the character names mentioned already, so I don't think they're too worrisome.
So yes, there are a few notable bugs.

Yeah, it looks like the PC version in the US got delayed again.
I show EBgames and Gamestop having it being released on April 17th. Man, what is the deal with the numerous delays? I was hoping to pick it up ths weekend. :(

I just have the PC version here for review, to follow up and expand on my previous review of the Xbox version. From what I can see so far, there's no changes at all from the Xbox original, and seeing as how Headfirst have gotten into trouble recently, it's probably safe to assume that there aren't any and that the few bugs the Xbox version had are still there on the PC.
That said, the PC version performs INCREDIBLY good; even better than Quake 3 and UT2k4 for me. 1280x1024 is no problem at all even on my aging rig (Athlon XP 2000+, 512MB DDR266, and a Radeon 9600 Pro) and works without noticeable jerkies.
On the other hand, the controls feel sort of odd - the mouselook isn't direct as in most other FPS games, but behaves more like moving an analog stick would, ie. there is a very tangible element of acceleration and deceleration to the way the field of view moves. Weird, but I got used to it pretty quickly.
[edit] Also, allow me the arrogance of taking the guy who wrote that review on the callingcthulhu forums apart a bit. The system requirements for the PC version are indeed low, but that has nothing at all to do with the fact that it's an Xbox port; plus he classifies a Radeon 9250 as a "decent", "not low-end" graphics card. Forgive me if I laugh. His review, other than the stumbling language, is pretty good considering the gameplay and story aspects of it, but pretty damn poor on the technical side. [/edit]
[edit #2] Also, fun fact: here in Germany (and probably in all of Europe), the Xbox version was published by 2K Games, whereas the PC version is published by Ubisoft. I have no freaking clue what has happened in between the release of each - there is a timespan of only about six weeks there - but it's weird as hell.
