I have a problem. I don't know what to do. I'm in the refinery. I have got the bucket train going and rode it to the pressure control. After I rerouted the steam the game autosaved and the way back locked for me. Now I can't find any open doors or anything else to do. What should I do here?

Remember, that when Jack says "The door is bolted shut" that means he can see the bolt. :)

Oh, was that what he said? I'll have to check it out, thanks.

I kicked myself everytime I ran around in circles because I forgot about that (happened more times than I'd like to admit :erg: ).
But, in my defense, I'd like to say that those bolted doors were totally ass to begin with... Nothing like accidentally (often repeatedly) opening a door you're trying to bolt to keep the bad things from getting to you.

I've just read "Shadow over Innsmouth" and the escape episode in the game is made almost in full accordance with book. So the book has some spoilers
The escape episode early on in the hotel is also almost exactly like the one in the Dagon movie. First thing I did was jump out the window and unfortunately, I died. That protaginist in the movie survived somehow so go figure
The Dagon movie was actually a pseudo-screenplay of Shadow Over Innsmouth. Of course, if you haven't read the short story, then you haven't really experienced the *good* version of the story (although the movie was okay).
i'm at the...
gold refinery in the Marsh Refinery, through the chemical storage, and i know that it is a shoggoth coming after me - i know enough Lovecraft and its obvious from the clues in the game. i'm scared shitless right now at the bottom of a long stairway in front of a door - gonna have to wait until tomorrow (daylight) to open it... i'm guessing the shoggoth is pretty near based on the cutscenes.
This game is kickass. It really brings the sense of the Call of Cthulhu RPG to life... playing it tabletop-style is generally more fun than spooky, but damn is this game frightening from just the sheer suspense. The insanity effects are top shelf as well... very glad i got this game.

I am at the beginning for the refinery also. The respawn rate for the fishmen seems to be pretty fast. It seems that as soon as I kill one roaming the corridors, another is already on it's way. I guess I am going to have to either take it more slowly or move faster. There it not too many dark areas to hide in either so far, but then again, I am still in the beginning part.
I thought the Dagon movie was pretty good. Ezra Goddin did an okay job at playing the protaganist and even added a little humor to his character. Although, I would have preferred to have seen the infamous Jeffrey Combs play that part. I guess they needed someone younger.
The torture scene was very hard to watch. Real nasty!

You know what would have done that better? Making it into an RPG rather than a FPS.
Dirty_Brute on 17/5/2006 at 00:30
I agree. Making this game more of an RPG type would have been better. It's still pretty good but the high respawn rate of the enemies in the refinery makes the game close to a blasta-thon.
