Hmm, using hires textures as straight replacements in Thief will porbably look strange in many places. LGS did IMO a very sloppy job with texture alignments and this will be very apparent with hires textures.

Your textures look good (apart from the third one, which looks very fuzzy and indistinct), though they'd certainly benefit from a higher resolution.
Regarding sizes, check the first and third posts in this thread, where I went into some detail regarding sizes and guidelines. Or, wait, I'll quote the relevant sections

* The new textures should be high resolution, at least 512x512 or larger.

DPI isn't really relevant for textures, just the number of pixels is important. Considering the age of the engine, anything bigger than 1024x1024 is probably overkill, and 512x512 would probably be sufficient in most cases. Still, scaling an image down by an even factor usually isn't too harmful, so working at 2048x2048 or higher and downscaling for the final image might be another option.
Basically, if it's a texture where detail would be useful, go for 1024x1024. If fine detail isn't as important, you could go for 512x512. Or just make it at a nice high resolution, and scale it down afterwards. Personally, I'm tempted to throw in everything at 1024x1024, and only reduce them all when it causes everyone to run out of VRAM. :)

Xorax: The ornamental parts in your image are significantly smaller than the original. If you scale the original up to the same size and layer it on top, you can see that they don't really match at all.
Wille: Ah yes, I've seen those before, they're great. I'll definitely include them.
I don't suppose you have source images at any higher resolution than 128x256?
Even unpalletised true colour images would be nice.

Hmm, nice! :D

I made them using vectors so high res variants shouldn't be hard to make. Vector work is somewhat rough though because I intended them to be 128x256 at max originally :). I'll see how much work it requires to raise the resolution and then PM you the hires images or psd source files if I'm too lazy :p.

Sounds good, thanks!
