I don't think nicely re-scaled videos are really in the scope of the EP, but that could be a nice project in its own right.

Yeah, the part about cleaning up jpg compression artifacts, if it would work, is what brought the videos to mind, quite tangentially to this project.

If I can find the tools to extract every frame as an image and then stick replacement images back in, I should be able to scale these up quite nicely.
That tools would be VirtualDub.

Didn't someone reencode both the TG and T2 movie files a bit back then? Sure, the resolution wasn't upped, but it was tidied up and looked a little less like a grain mill.
(Dunno if anyone's brought this up, seeing as I started writing this post 12 hours ago, and forgot to finish and post it... :p)
(Ah, my fears are put to rest!)

Yeah. That was done mainly to get rid of the Indeo 5 codec, and therefore, the issue of the videos not playing on newer systems, and the need for fixes.

Well, for starters, they look pretty well cleaned up. Just imagining how someone would pull off a widescreen video, without either faking anamorphic, or recreating the image on the sides of the video, or we could just stick with the column bars, or make them look all nice.
Dunno, but just for me, it's pointless trying to update something like a cutscene video, without having to make it from scratch, which would take much longer than necessary, but if done right, it could look pretty good.

Yeah, I figured that out already. :P
Thanks, though.

They look more like rusted metal to me.
