By this i mean with pure damage rather than blackjack/gas etc? One time I shot one with 3 fire arrows but it was still alive and after that I was out of fire arrows so it killed me.

A sword definitely works. Gas does not count as a kill, a common problem that people have in Strange Bedfellows. A bugbeast is dead when it stops making a crunchy sound when you whack it with the sword.

Leave me out of it. I have nothing to do with bugbeasts!

If you did, what would your sound be like?
Gimodon, if you're asking how many ways one can take out a single beastess within the restrictions of that level, I think a DromEdeer will have to help here. If you want to know how to kill ALL the bugbeasts in that level without getting near them, I don't think you have enough arrows or anything else for a ranged attack, anyway.
So what does "MetaProperty (-2)" mean under FireDamaged/Vulnerabilities?

Bugbeasts die just as well as any other enemy. I don't know how your target survived three fire arrows. Did you miss? That's the only explanation I can think of. Unless you just tapped the mouse button. The damage fire arrows due is related to how far you pull the bowstring back.

Well, only marginally. Most of the damage done by a fire arrow is in the explosion, and it doesn't vary with velocity.

This would seem to mean that bugbeasts have a greater resilience to fire-arrows, and that they are not as vulnerable to explosive damage as, say, a human would be.

No it does not.
It means that bugbeasts can be damaged by fire arrows.
But they also have a resistance that heals them from fire damage.
So, it all evens out and they are basically immune to it.
In any case, so long as you never alert or injure one in that mission, you don't have to kill any.

How odd. I've never had any problems wasting bugbeasts with a single fire arrow to the chest. Maybe I'm special.
