I have been looking for games that are still in development to replace T:DS.
I know a lot of community developments are on going for Thief II, although I liked the first two, but T:DS really does it for me, something about the physics of it really attracts me.
I have played Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory demo, and I am not impressed, it's seems quite easy to perform sneaky kills, compare with Metal Gear Solid 3, Splinter Cell is on easy mode?
There is also a nice fancy move where you stand in mid air in between wall, but it's not as solid as me jumping in mid air and grab on to the top of a book shelf, just in time to avoid being seen in Thief 3.
So I am comparing Splinter Cell with Thief 3 and Metal Gear Solids, is Splinter Cell a worthy series for stealth game player such as I to invest their money and time in?

It's what I used to fill in the gaps, or when I needed a break, in the Thief series. It's pretty good, just with different tactics of course, and it still doesn't compare in my opinion to the stealthiness of Thief. Nothing does, for that matter. Thief nailed it, but then again, I'm referring to T1/T2, not TDS. Sorry, I didn't like TDS all that much.

Thief DS is fantastic but underrated; don't listen to those nay-sayers ;)
I have played Thief 1, 2, and 3, and Splinter Cell 1. Thief is completely incomparable to anything. It's absolutely in a league of it's own. But Splinter Cell is a good game too. It's just a different kind of game. I would say the Thief games are better. I found them to be more tense for one, which is what a good stealth game ought to be. Now, when I play Splinter Cell I play it to try and kill everyone. I suppose the "tie-breaker" (though, in my opinion, it is hardly a tie) would be the setting. Would you rather be a Thief in a dark fantasy world, or would you rather be a secret agent in a contemporary world?

i enjoyed the splinter cell series once i got used to the 3rd person perspective. In many ways Thief is easier. But Thief is still a better game by far. Start with the 1st SC game and follow the series....you'll have fun as long as you've got your shit together and can plan ahead...because if you think you can just go in guns 'a balzing you're in for a hard time...Sam Fisher is at his best when he's a ghost.

Yea I suppose there is nothing like Thief, it's such a shame there are no more of this type of game.
Comparing with Splinter Cell wise, I had another try with the demo, and I decided to buy Chaos Theory, since it has the best review from all of Splinter Cells.
Though Double Agent has a better graphic and it's at £15, but the demo crashes, and they say on the forum that the game itself is buggy as dung. So At £7, about $14 USD, buying SC:CT will allow me to have a better idea of what it is then.
One thing that I feel Thief is so much greater is that it has a great story throughout 1, 2 and 3 (never tried the expansion for T2), the character designs and the voice actings are brilliant. As a whole package, Thief is a wonderful game.

The expansion (assuming you mean Thief Gold) was for T1. T2 Gold is what LGS was working on when they shut down, but it's now being (
http://thiefmissions.com/thief2gold/) worked on by some of us using actual missions and notes that we all thought were lost for 6 years.
If by that you meant T2X, it is wonderful, but is entirely fan-made and also doesn't feature Garrett.

Having played SC3, MGS1 and MGS2 (PC), I found MGS games considerably more challenging (on HARD with RADAR OFF), involving, deep, and interesting. Even if they were much more arcadish and comics-like, they had style and soul. Plus, some MGS VR missions were exceptionally fun, somehow reminded me Commandos, boss fights were memorable and excellently designed.
Don't want to replay SC3 at all, but do want both MGSs. And after I read reviews about SC4 I came to conclusion that I wouldn't like it either, too flat for me...

Splinter Cell is a great concept, the series is a bit patchy though, I wouldn't bother with Pandora Tomorrow and Double Agent.
...But the game isn't Thief, and you have to accept that. SC is a lot more scripted but has a lot of things you have enjoyed from Thief with your abilities to take out lights and knock out NPC's (sticky cam's). The original game is brilliant, but again you have to accept it's linear and nowhere near as detailed as Thief.
I think you would also enjoy the Hitman games.
