I'm not up to date with my Opeth, but the cover on their latest album is like some weird fusion of a bosch painting and a comedy photoshop.

Go listen to
A Matter of Life and Death and come back and say that, because that's their best album in
years.
It's not as great as Brave New World IMO. But the point still stands overall, enjoying quality Maiden doesn't have to mean returning to the 80s.

Brave New World is also a strong contender. 'Thin Line Between Love and Hate' was my go-to song for killing bad moods for a very long time.

Iron Maiden still make records? The last Maiden album I bought (and until then I'd bought every album they made including a couple of EPs) was Somewhere in Time. But their "rinse and repeat" musical formula got old after a few years :erg:.

Iron Maiden are like AC/DC, just not as old. They do their thing year after year with no real variation. Millions of people like them, but for anyone else they're completely irrelevant.

Trying to discuss music is like discussing scratch and sniff books.
Anyway Opeth are devil worshipping sellouts, they do the same old 3 chord overblown operatic pretentious redneck pop music for girls, and do the dame thing over again except when they go in too many directions at once and you can't dance to their music.

Opeth is pop music for girls? You have been scratching and sniffing hallucinogens.

When it comes to "soul" and how it relates to the listening of music, I treat it much like gaming. When thinking about playing Thief again, I boot up the original Dark Project and go from there because that is my favorite part of Thief. Maiden is just another band, like all the rest. When I am in a certain mood or just revisiting them, I always go for the first half of the (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3fVDCtc0OY) Somewhere in Time album and usually end up back with things like (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOFlGVzflvU&feature=fvst) Children of the Damned and (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zr-j001aHE0&feature=fvst) Trooper and so on. The coolest part is that each man and woman can choose to enjoy anything they want at any time.
Iron Maiden made many classic albums, up until Bruce left. Then they had this new singer and it was what it was. Bruce had a few solo tunes during that time that I dug including (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRO0x89ej2A) Tears of the Dragon. After Bruce rejoined the band things got good again. After 35+ years, I would at least say that they are doing what they love and are paid well.

Say what you want about Bailey but The X Factor is one of the better Maiden albums.
