Can you name one RTS... - by Koki

Yeah Battlecruisers are glass cannons.
Marines aren't obliterated by plague. Medics balance that out. Plus you can just irradiate the Devourers and they're dead.
But assuming it's a great player vs another great player, it's never going to get to late tech anyway.

Dark Reign. the first one.

A better question would be: name an RTS where the humans suck.
Anyway, my pick goes to any of the Warlords Battlecry games.

No one ever uses Battlecruisers. While Protoss players can try go Carriers, Battlecruisers are like Nukes: Waste of money.
They're very good for cracking open well-defended locations, though they don't often see that much use.

Marines [...] are obliterated by Plague so they can't be used endgame.
Medics can heal them faster than the plague can hurt them - plague is much more damaging against mechanical units.

Against the tanks, Zergs just Dark Swarm and roll in with Cracklings/Ultras.
Then protect them with masses of firebats or mines.

Protoss just Storm or use Stasis.
Tanks have more range than Psi Storm if you spot properly.

If you use mines, Zealots will drag them to your firing line. Only if you spread your forces and use mines properly you will have a chance.
And that's why Terrans suck. They have to work twice as hard just to be on equal footing with Z/P.
All races have to spread their forces out and use their abilities properly. Clustered Protoss units are prime targets for EMP Shockwave, clustered mutalisks can be easily killed by Irradiate, Valkyries or Psi Storm, etc.
One of Starcraft's strengths is that no race really has a "super unit" that can just counter everything.

Regarding determined, underpowered humans vs. technologically advanced aliens, Command & Conquer 3 is an interesting example:
MASSIVE SPOILERS FOLLOW
When you're playing the GDI campaign, the aliens seem to be a horrific invasion force that can only barely be beaten.
In the Nod campaign on the other hand, Kane isn't much bothered by them and seems to be in control.
Finally in the Scrin mini-campaign only unlocked once you beat both main campaigns, you discover the aliens (at least the AI assistant of the player character) are pretty much as scared of us as GDI is of them.
That's because the alien invasion in the game is not really a military invasion. The Scrin force you see in the game are actually pretty much construction workers and miners, they didn't expect any sort of resistance as they thought the tiberium had already killed us off. Thing is, they didn't expect Earth had someone like Kane who harnessed the power of tiberium and actually actively lured the Scrin early as part of his own plan.

Imo, starcraft is one of the most boring rts ever made, but it was balanced finer than ....something that is really really balanced.
It seems that, since you've offered no suggestions of other games, that you suck quite badly as terrans in SC and made a thread bitching about how shit they are.

Yes, because microing a gazillion of zerglings that die if an SCV sneezes, WHILE spreading your lurkers and burrowing them just where they'd do most damage AND trying to keep the defilers close and full of energy so they can dark swarm just where you need them to, while keeping the science vessels away from them with scourges takes just snapping your fingers, right?
Zerg is often at least as micro-intensive as terrans, while they have to be REALLY good at macroing as well, whereas the terrans can afford to be mediocre at best in the latter.
Also Battlecruisers are used fairly often in prolonged TvT matches and EMP+nuke can completely cripple a protoss' economy in seconds. Just watch a couple of SlayerS'Boxer's TvT/TvP matches.
And the BCs being glass cannons? Heh. What about the carriers then? They cost more and have less hitpoints AND they are more vulnerable to corsairs and valkyries due to their shields. Also very vulnerable to plague since you can't repair them and are fairly vulnerable to EMP. And their usage in battle incurs further costs as interceptors invariably die.
What about late zerg tech? How often do you see guardians + devourers being thrown around? I certainly don't see them much more often than protoss and terran late tech, probably even less than those.
