Aliens vs. Predator series (the two alien species in particular)
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
All give you the sense of being a powerful lone hunter, stalking/taunting/toying with their prey. The Hitman series is another good example of where you're isolated yet feel empowered.
I'd also recommend Fallout 3 if you can find a good non-idiotic difficulty mod for it.

Ah, I now see why I had trouble explaining myself in that butchered opening post.
I was trying to describe something that's ultimately contradictory: A feeling of being alone and vulnerable, but yet empowered at the same time.
Though I have a clear picture of it in my head, and I wish more games exploited that "contradiction."

Dead Space and Stalker then, definitely.

yeah, I think you're on the right track here. :D
I should have emphasized that the
loneliness/sense of isolation was big part of what I'm trying to talk about.
I guess my original post was unclear. it wouldn't be the first time i failed to adequately communicate something.
Demon's Souls. Hands down. Don't let its online features fool you, its still a very lonely game. Even though you have ways of interacting with other players, you are never able to communicate directly. The closest it comes is when one player assists another's game, but even then the assisting players appear as phantoms.

Also the original Diablo. When you think about it, Diablo was one hell of a lonely game. And if it was your first jaunt, killing the Butcher for the first time down there, in the dark amongst his 'tableau' and then moving on certainly felt empowering. Plus, hey, Hellgate was made by practically the same creators.

ROFL - I see we now have virtual Eva!
(probably a huge improvement over the original model)
The coolest thing of all is that it can't respond. ;)

More of a 'virtual' virtual Eva. Once removed, twice cheerier. Looks like enforced time away is doing good things for you, mens. Not that I like that you and dethy are banned, but just treat it like a little vacation I suppose. You guys're missing out on some of that usual Koki (R) action, though, which sucks a little. Ah well, I'll be playing some Painkiller in your honour meanwhile! ;)

Did I already mention the Penumbra series? Because someone should mention the Penumbra series.
