Ah...tis a pity avp 1 doesn't work on vista. I imagine playing a powerful alien species would have fit the bill perfectly, of being vulnerable, yet deadly.

My copy of AvP 1 (disc not Steam) works just fine on Vista. I had to download a fan patch though to stop the video renderer crashing horribly.

I just did a quick google on your behalf, and it looks like there's a fanpatch to get AVP1 running on Vista/7 fairly easily.
...supposedly.
