Is there a way to prevent Jock's chopper from blowing up? It's so blatantly obvious that something like that is going on when you find a body behind some barrels at Everett's helipad and the mechanic is acting nervous. With all those hints dropped it would be strange if there was nothing you could do.

When you finish the discussion with the suspicious mechanic, go tell about it to Everett. He'll demand his extermination. Either kill him or put him unconscious, then go tell about it back to Everett. When you will be leaving Everret's hideout, simply talk to Jock in the helocopter.

I knew something was up when i saw that corpse and the "Odd mechanic".
I considered going to see if Everrett had anything to say about it, but i couldn't be bothered. :sly:
Nice to know there's something you can do about it, though. I had thought it was a little too obvious as well.

Yep, that 'mechanic' was so damn transparent. My first thought was, Dammit, now what?.
Phydeaux on 16/2/2002 at 08:01
First time I played the game I never even noticed the "odd mechanic". I didn't even take note of the dead mechanic, as I usually leave an assortment of random bodies behind anyway.

You can just kill the Odd Mechanic without talking to Everret, Jock stays alive.
I quite like the clues they gave you for him being a spy.. the dead body right in front of you and him actually being called "Odd Mechanic" :)
Also, what actually happens if you don't uncover the spy? I've never played it that way. Jock's copter blows up, ok.. but are you inside and have to reload or what?

nah.
You're set out in A51, and a short ahile afterwards, Jock contacts you via this in-head.link (no idea what it's called anymore) and says something like: hey, this is a strange sound. what's going on? i think i'll land aga------ and then, the helicopter blows up.
Can't you still save him then?
Rogue Keeper on 26/2/2002 at 11:31
"Then"? No, "then" you see him for the last time.
tripwood on 28/2/2002 at 19:55
what's the difference if you keep him alive, besides having a happier (if happy is even possible for him) denton?
the story fits a bit more if Jock dies though.. as i imagine a JC Denton filled with lust for revenge for one of his last friends is killed in front of his helpless eyes....
and yes, i did make Jock go boom. :(
