C-beam does get very close to the style of the originals, but you certainly have plenty of talent. Perhaps you could put your skills to use by making completely new textures.

Or put your skills to use making windows!

Yeah, as counterintuitive as it feels toward what I've been taught, I should probably stay in my comfort zone as far as this project is concerned. I can always practice the stuff I'm awkward at in some other context.
Groutless stone is a particular blind spot... I do fine with windows, metal and brick, but there's something about groutless stone blocks that makes my comic artist's instinct want to draw black contours around the edges of everything. ;)

Did anyone ever actually come up with a satisfactory explanation for the abrupt change to darkness in some of the lit windows?
Yandros on 13/2/2014 at 03:51
I think several theories were put forth, such as a large piece of furniture in front of the window, but am not sure any were generally accepted. Personally, I'd prefer the windows to simply be fully lit, but I realize this is a canon pack and must match the originals as much as possible.

There should be a repository for all the textures that are better or different than the originals, but which aren't direct replacements for the originals (like that fully lit window). They could all go in an fam\extras folder. FM makers might find some of them more useful.

That, or giving up and letting him do everything instead.
You could apply your considerable talent to some of the source photos I've posted, there's quite a few that need an expert hand.
If not, I shall be forced to attempt them myself, and you DO NOT want that on your conscience!:cheeky:
Joking aside, there are a good number of your textures I prefer to C-Beam's and vice versa.
MaxED had some wonderful contributions. I love Wille's style also.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, an old adage that rings very true here.
It was always going to be tough to ask artists to slavishly re-create old textures.
So many of the original textures are very much open to interpretation, and everyone has her/his own take on things.
So, no giving up ok?

Yeah, don't give up now, Necrobob!...I love your work...:thumb:

Excellent idea.

Thirding the repository idea.
Here's your latest find with some spit and polish, Purgator. Can refine even further, if really needed.

Also, am I misremembering, or did you or someone else have a dedicated thread for source finds?
Purgator on 14/2/2014 at 00:09
That looks superb! I don't have a source thread as yet, although I have toyed with the idea.
My organisational skills aren't that keen, unfortunately.
