Kinda on topic, kinda not, but for those of you who've always wanted to try out Photoshop, but either didn't feel like doing the five finger discount, and weren't willing to part with beaucoup bucks to get your own license, (
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57562515-263/adobe-releases-creative-suite-2-for-free/) Adobe is now giving away CS2 for free.
...or at least they would be if the servers weren't slammed. Still, it's worth waiting for them to get everything back up and running and getting your own copy.

Photoshop CS2 for free is awesome.
Later versions of Photoshop that I've tried don't really add anything of value.

I really pleased to see such a project. And I like the contributed textures so far. :D
If you are interested in my critique:
•The last marble texture appears a little blurred on the edges (for my eyes). In this way they appear a bit bleary. Perhaps an optical illusion...?
•The Marble floor 06 should be a bit darker, especially the dark rhombi are too bright. (I only can say something about the difference in light intensity, not about the colour.)
•The white marble floor... I see the original texture as blocks of marble (they are solid, they express wealth). Your texture creates the impression that there are only marble tiles - nothing solid, only frontage (it reminds me of a bathroom).
•And although the three white/coloured chequered textures (the tile textures) are nearly the same, they are good in my opinion (except the complete white one as mentioned). Perhaps they would also look good as blocks? I cannot visualise it...
I also like the marble textures with the rhombi. They are really great.
I am impressed by your work, and for the most part I am fond of them. Really nice. :)

I'm not seeing that? In any case, the version that will go into the pack will probably be 1024x1024, not 512x512.

Yes.

This is a very good point. I had assumed it was meant to be tiles, like the rest of the textures in this family, but it isn't. I took a look at where it was used, and this texture is mostly used on walls, rather than floors.
I'm not quite sure how the gaps between the "tiles" should look in this case. Given the usage, I almost think it would look better if I got rid of the 4 sub-tiles and just made it one giant, seamless piece of marble. Better, but it would also look different. I'm not sure what to do with it now.

Every time this thread pops up I feel really, really guilty. :(

That's intentional. ;)

I want to explain what I mean. The octagon has shadows on the N, NE and E side. But between the shadow line and the joint/gap there is a shade lighter belt/line. Because of this the shadows are a bit blurry (of course I can say this only for me), as if the shadows were a little displaced (or slipped).
I see, the structure of the last texture of post #495 is the same as from the "blurry" texture, is it not? Maybe the lighter line between the shadow line and the joint is a result of colour inverting. It seems the direction of shadow casting is the opposite, too. Hm, I am only guessing. But this (inverting) could be the reason.
The white marble... maybe it would look nice without the joints? I am no architect, but I can imagine that such marble blocks were used for a wall or whatever, and after implementing they will get polished. As a result there should be no extra joints on view... Of course this texture is very two-dimensional in this way. But this should be fine in this case.
Sorry, I can only contribute comments but no textures. I hope I am not too fastidious.
