reasonable?
he said "...i forgot a bit of loot in "one of the houses" outside truarts mansion..."
if im not wrong there are just few coins in there..in all outside buildings...so it will only get you 3 more broadhead arrow (i never buy such thing) or 1 more water arrow (hmm...)
just replay whole mission...:ebil:

I don't know exactly how many coins he has to go, and I don't care. There could be 1000 in loot out there for all I know. The point is still the same.
The game shouldn't end without asking, when you can potentially do more to improve your chances on the next level. It's why they implemented the choice in T3.

well i am missing the 100 loot that are to be found in the house north of the starting location. i had simply overlooked that there is a house in the north at all and went directly south to the hidden entrance.
of course i do not really need the 100 for buying stuff. for me it's more of a must-have-100%-thing. but IN GENERAL some people might have missed more loot and would like to come back, so i agree with Domarius: choice is (nearly) always better.

Actually, I disagree. One of the main points in TDP, GOLD, and TMA is explore everything before you go running off to a new area. Too many people are on a speed run to beat the game, and as is evidenced here they only beat themselves.
If you fuck up, you fuck up. You can always opt out with the ESC and Restart the mission. In this case he knows the ins and outs and can probably redo it in less time than he/she spent bitching about it.

1. since altogether i only spent maybe 15 minutes on this thread definitly not
2. it's not about the time, but about the fun. blackmail isn't a very exciting mission in the first place. then add the fact that i just played it -> boredom.
3. the first time i played through TMA i (more or less) played it your way. my motivation for the second time now is to do it perfectly.

Well, disagree, whatever. Just know that TDS gives you the choice where T2 didn't.
There isn't any conceivable way to imagine what would pull Garrett out of the mission when he knew he hadn't checked all the houses for loot.
It's the game unessecarily intefering with the player's choice of action, simple as that.

Alternatively, it's the game not forcing the player to hike all the way back to an exit when they're done.

I always considered Blackmail to be one of the more exciting missions...Especially when playing it through the first time. I must admit I was very surprised when the sheriff had been murdered.
Plus the benny conversation in the game room is hilarious.

Again, missing the point.
The fact that every T3 mission has exit zones whereas only some T2 missions have them, is irrelevant from my point - when you encounter an exit zone in T3, you get the choice wether to quit or keep walking. In T2, you don't. The exit zone essentially becomes an impassable barrier preventing you from looting the rest of the map, as in the case that
this very thread is about, the Blackmail mission.
T3 is doing the same thing as T2 but its giving you a choice.
Same thing, but with a choice. Better. End of story.

I agree. There are some people who just really hate T3 and there is absolutely nothing we can do or say to make them think positively in any way about it.
Although I myself enjoyed playing T3, I do see it's shortcomings...
I did like the choice though. THAT was an improvement.
