I have only discovered this fm now and I really want to play it. I downloaded the exe from (
http://t2x.agentstepp.com/) but when I try to open the file it doesn't work. Right clicking or left clicking would cause it to crash. I downloaded the exe numerous times but in all those times it crashed.

It's probably the launcher he's having issues with, not the installer. It tends to not work on modern systems for some reason--you click "play Thief 2X" and it just crashes without loading the game. The best solution to this would be to simply have someone upload a zip archive loadable as a fan mission to the popular FM archive sites at this point, I think. It's cleaner when you load it as a fan mission, anyway. Especially with FMsel, which I've now been using over DarkLoader for the last year or so due to the way it loads FMs with NewDark.

No, I'm having issues with the exe itself. Whenever I try opening or right clicking "t2x_v11_full", my computer freezes and then crashes. The file seems corrupted.

I'll upload the non-.exe version to my site and update this link when it's ready. Treat it as a normal FM mission.

I'm curious, why wasn't T2X distributed in standard FM form in the first place? Was there some technical advantage to the exe version that's no longer relevant?

There may have been technical reasons, I don't know. But T2x was meant to be a full stand-alone game, a 13-mission game, like the original games. And it was produced with all the production values and extras that a store-bought game would have.
