Help!,
I'm unable to get beyond the hallway after the Butler's Room in the very beginning of the game. After managing to save the game when I picked up the key and got through the door on the left (had to move very fast or would die), now I get the Skull and Crossbones within 5 seconds in the hallway. Is this how it's supposed to work? By the time I reach the end of the hall and hear the guards talking, I'm dead.
My OS is Win XP and I have installed the patch. My game version is 1.18.

Hm, sounds like a bug, really. But I had the same problem playing T2 for the first time, when not having followed the game's objectives exactly.
When I traced Mosley, I didn't stop at the place, she threw away the note - and then died several times, until I read the objectves another time.
I don't remember any objective in the first mission, which could lead to this, except this one: Don't hurt anybody.
Did you eventually use a broadhead-arrow now and then...?

How frustrating. You might read the technical FAQ. For example, Windows XP uses hyperthreading (virtual multiprocesors) which can cause the game to freeze after a minute or two, and the FAQ has a solution for that.
The "skull and crossbones" video means that you failed an objective, not necessarily that you died. After the video, it should show you the objectives and one of them will have a red "X" to show which objective was failed. If this is what is happening, what does that screen show?

Many Thanks for helping out.
I will check out those FAQs.
Also, the failed objective that is red exed is "Get Basso and Geneviere out of the mansion with you". Seems like the main one.
I feel better knowing that this is not how the game goes. Maybe I should haul out and fire up my old Win 98 computer and see how the game plays on it.
Also, I have not fired any arrows or used any weapons at all for that matter.

While checking out those FAQs in the Troubleshooting forum I realized that I probably should be posting over there. So I pasted the problem and will keep this thread informed.
Thanks again.
