So I registered out of being frustrated from trying.
I've downloaded a lot of save game files. Lots of times. I already have that index .ion file in documents/thief/savegames folder. But every single I time install new saves I go into he game and "load" only gives me old saves.
Question? If there a DIFFERENT save location? Get this: Once, after deleting ALL things in that theif folder (I had to make the savegames folder myself because there was none after install), I still had games to load. Thats right, after deleting all saves, I had saves to load. Saves which I don't see in the savegames folder. What's going on here? I want to play Cradle really bad again but don't have the time to replay the whole game.
Please help D:

What game? If it is Deadly Shadows, the Saves are in MY DOCUMENTS.
To open and play a saved game, go to the options menu and LOAD. Select the save listed, hit OK and play the game you saved.

Stupid question: Did you delete them from within the game menu?

Would deleting them from the in-game menu do anything? If there's NOTHING in the save folder, where is the gaming picking these saves up, or referencing them from? Remember I wiped the whole folder and put in new downloaded save files.
And theBlackman....d...didn't even read the post, cool :D
But disregard, I think I may having it working, double checking now
Edit: Yeahhh nope. I found I was extracting very wrong, and NOW I'm getting the extracts to make that folder with the hex-like names. But still after deleting the saves in menu andthen putting this new folder with the cradle save files, nothing shows up in game.

The index is the list of saves. Does any of them PLAY if you select them? if so then they are still in the SAVES registry someplace.
If you open the SAVES folder in MY DOC and only see the index, your best bet is to try deleting from the LOAD menu, or uninstall re-install.
I did read your post, but with TDP, TMA, TGOLD, TDS you did not name the game.
So, I tried to cover all the bases, targeting TDS.
EDIT: OK now you are getting there. Open the SAVES folder. Then delete all the files you see. Then delete the folder. Then restart the game and EXIT to desktop. Then check the MY DOC folder. You should see a SAVE folder that has nothing in it the game should make a new one AND a new INDEX. Then put the new saves in the SAVES folder. Restart and see what you have.

Now I have started over and still no luck.
C:\Users\####(name)\Documents\Thief - Deadly Shadows\SaveGames\7A708680-BD0CF894-D3982637-233A9CAA-510EA2A4
That final folder is the save I put in. It has 12 files, an ion, a dds, 4 WGSs, and 6 files listed as type "File".
Back in the SaveGames folder there is the SaveIndex.ion
This is it right? And still when I start the game, the "load" is blanked out because there are no found saves.
edit: also, if it means anything, im on Vista

Also: this might help
I'm on a Vista laptop. File structure is wierd I heard a reference to a /savegames/user options/options.ini . But my folder stops at savegames. Whats going on? A quick search revealed there was no "options.ini" anywhere on my computer.
I just...want to play....Shalebridge Cradle. That's why I bought the game. I've spent hours and hours on this to no avail...,

Now you tell us. For christs sake, always give the specs.
Do a search for VISTA in the TECH SECTION. Vista has its own problems that need special attention.
Some people have gotten the game to run on VISTA, but most here are still using XP.
So do a search, and post your specs and problem in the TECH section.

A) I didn't think specs were important because I thought the people at Eidos knew how to make games compatible with both current computers and OS's that are nearly identical. The game ran 100% fine already with no problems saving already.
B) I didn't know the members of this forum were so rude. Thanks for representing the probably nice population.

Have you deleted the saveindex.ion yet? If not, do it, then start the game. Otherwise you'll only find the savegames that were there before.
