Can't use programmable Xbox gamepad in Thief 3 - Crashes - HELP! - Fixed - by Komag

Okay, so I have an XBox (and I incidentally have the Xbox version of Thief 3 as well), and I ordered a cord adapter so I can plug my Xbox controller into my computer USB port.
I installed the XBCD driver, set it up, then downloaded and installed Pinnacle Game Profiler and set it up. I set it up for T2X (Thief 2) and it works GREAT! I love it, very smooth controls, nice to play on the couch when I put the PC monitor signal through the projector (big screen, yes!)
But after setting it up for Thief 3, it works seemingly great in the menus (right joystick acts as mouse, can select things with emulated "mouse click" - I have it set to the right trigger). But when I try to load a save game or start a new game, it gets to the mission loading screen but the bar across the top never makes any progress and it crashes to desktop
Now I know that others have had crashes when they have a joystick or gamepad connected, but I REALLY WANT TO MAKE THIS WORK!!!
Are they any possibilities anyone can think of?
What is it that Thief 3 does during the loading that hates a gamepad?
Is there some ini tweak I could adjust to skip whatever it is that causes the crash?
Anything?

How about loading a map using the Opt version of T3Main from the editor and seeing if the log tells you anything? Wasn't there something about plugging in the controller after the game had loaded as well?

I can't believe it, it was just that I hadn't used the Launcher to switch back to Game from Editor! I figured it out because after unplugging the controller I still couldn't play, still crashed! I tried disabling the pad in my Device Manager, still got crashes. Then I thought "Crap, maybe the last thing I did was something in T3Ed", so I fired up Thief 3 Launcher, did Game, and it worked. Plugged back in the pad, tried Pinnacle Game Profiler, works like a charm! Crazy
BTW, I did try using various .exe's before, good idea. I also thought of plugging it in later, but that's when I found I couldn't get the game to work even when it was unplugged...
Anyway, it works great, I'm happy

That's good news :) I've been trying out Thief Gold and Thief II with my Xbox360 pad (using Pinnacle to support triggers and right thumbstick) and it's bloody brilliant, so was looking forward to giving Thief III a try with it too.
