Yes, 'Bollock' daggers as the English call them are really handy in a tight situation. :ebil:

The "Bollock" Dagger is pretty much the everyman weapon from the 13th Century right up to the 17th and even as late as the 18th Century. The Highlanders "Sign Dubh" or "Black Knife" is probablly the last incarnation of this handy weapon. Loved the German sword and Buckler work, a bit too vigorous for re-enactment fighting, especially when there's a couple of hundred on the field like at Bosworth or Tewkesbury, but really good style! The long daggers, Rondel, you see in Holythief's pictures, (And in "The Circle of Stone and Shadow" FM's!) is the real nasty one, made for punching a hole in an armoured Knight by stabbing it into the weaker joints, it's a real peasant murder weapon!
A "Thief" LARP, sounds like a good fun idea, but everyone would have to take it in turns to be Garrett! Then all the other players could "Monster" as Hammers, Guards or City Watch! (You've already seen my Hammer gear, wait until Holythief finishes my City Watch outfit!) I wonder if she'll do a Mechanist outfit to go with my Crossbow....(I think she's going to clout me, so I'll say 'Bye' for now!)

I'm already looking forward to the City Watch pics :D
Thanks for the explanation and link, Holy Thief and Beleg, it sure sounds and looks interesting, although you can probably appreciate the fighting more when you know a bit about what they do, can do or should do.

Whoa, Red Crow! I joined them for a while a few years back. Did a reinactment at Tewkesbury with them. Fun times...
Do you know these fellas, Holy Thief, or did you grab that pic at random?

Yes, it's a brigantine. In fact this is one option I always had for making City Watch guards "real" because again this is late medieval. They had colourful tunics at the time as well, but I might be biased because of the very nice Gerry Embleton books dealing mostly with the late middle ages.
@MS I.33: Yes, of course you cannot directly use it for reenactment fights (or even line fight), but it surely gives a better sense of things. Well, you know what I mean. I heared one of the Hammaborg guys proved himself to be very good during some viking combat IIRC. By the way, they even have videos on YouTube showing single sword plays, but even those are hard to understand if someone hasn't showed you what it should look like.

Aesthetically it reminds me of a monster truck crash video I saw a couple of days ago. :weird:
