Has anyone been to (
http://www.castellodiamorosa.com/) http://www.castellodiamorosa.com/ in Napa Valley? I was there last week and I was instantly taken back to all those hours playing Thief. They have a chapel (RTC!), a dungeon, jails (Cragscleft), and a moat. I highly recommend a visit if you are a fan of Thief, castles, or wine (or all of the above).

Actually, the stone is all imported from Italy. Some of it dates to the 10th century. The owner is a rich winemaker who spent 14 years and $40 million creating this thing. He even brought back an original iron maiden, and other torture devices (including this chair with a pyramid on it that when you sat on it, the weight of your body slowly parted yourself). The only drawbacks are the crowds and some concessions to modern building codes (electricity, fire-suppression).
Other than that, it is a really cool castle...and this is coming from a jaded 40 year old who used to live in Germany (where they have a few castles of their own).

WOW!!! How much!!
Anyway, I bet the foundations and the walls are in modern ferroconcrete >=P
I had a similar idea, but I was more radical: all just in stone. Fuck the security laws (after three days I would have builded up, they surely would close me in jail ahaha). But seeing how much spent this guy, I'm surely out of shot. :/
Sometime the laws are too burdensome. That's why the revolutions happen. If my politician talks about freedom, I would have to feel myself free to build some thing in the way I want, without of course polluting the ambient, or bringing someone EXTERNAL to risk. Anyway stop with the dreams: we are all out of shots!
Damn!! I never expected a similar cypher.

Anyway I have to admit that the external architecture is marvellous.
