(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DqFCK8N36M) ...and hello to Jason Isaacs.
This one has been looking promising for a while. It's (
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=266613) gotten glowing reviews (take with a grain a salt, TBH. OXM? LOL) thus far and it's supposed to be 20+ hours long (360 version spanning 2 DVDs), which is epic by contemporary standards (especially for an action game). The casting is absolutely stellar.
It's hyped to be this year's Batman: Arkham Asylum, a title that comes out of nowhere and surprises everyone.
I'll honestly wait to hear player's verdict though, only so much money to go around and I'm not blind ordering a title unless it's a sure thing like Fallout: NV. Also there's the fact that developer MercuryStream's last game was the critically panned Clive Barker Presents: Clive Barker's Jericho.

I liked the demo. It's God of War with gravitas... which the original God of War had, but yeah. This is Victorian gravitas. Complete with glowing horses that speak with magic Spanish accents. It's pretty, the combat is fluid, and it's ever so hammy even with the Patrick Stewart voiceover. "What drives a man?"
Oldschool Castlevania fans - this one isn't built for your pleasures. Either proceed without those expectations in tow, or steer clear.

Honestly, had there ever been a consistently good 3D Castlevania prior? I'm not talking about 2.5D side-scrollers like the Dracula X remake, but ones in a fully 3D space.

Played the demo. Wasn't so impressed with the gameplay, but the art direction and graphics were stellar. Also: I'm a sucker were bizarre creature design so I probably will buy that at some point.

To be fair though, didn't castlevania copy of devil may cry well before god of war did?
So it's more like an extension to its previous attempt at 3d beatemup style game.

Nope! That's why I said 'oldschool'. The way this one's being hailed, some folks might get a little too excited over the review scores and start thinking they finally did a proper 3D Castlevania in ye olde 2D Metroidvania style.

Yet to play a single good 3D Castlevania. The 2D ones kick EXTREME butt. SOTN ftw.

This.
it's more like we got a really good devil may cry/god of war style game, but definitely not a new metroidvania game.
