The Zatoichi Challenge
So, you think you REALLY know your Thief-games by heart? Here's your chance to find out: play your favorite Thief mission with your monitor switched off. Since Thief heavily relies on audio, it might not be impossible...
The One-Armed Swordsman Challenge
Compared to the Zatoichi Challenge, this one's actually quite feasible. Play Thief using only one hand for controlling both keyboard and mouse. If you want an extra-challenge: use your right hand if you're left-handed and vice versa.
Enjoy!:cheeky:

I once played TMA using only my penis. True story.

The second is not so bad. Just change the movement keys over to the numpad and hold the mouse under your wrist, press the mousebuttons with the bottom of your palm and your other three on keys.
The first one might work, but without knowing where shadows are its a little hard to not be spotted by guards. It would be %100 memory. I'm guessing too much of a frustration to attempt.

Wow, nice ideas!
I've been playing the Wieldstrom Museum level over and over just because it's so fun, large halls, lots of valuables to loot. I might try going blind just for fun (I know I'm not even going to get past the front door =D).

Sometimes I've played with the gamma very dark ... I think if you lowered it as dark as possible, and the monitor's brightness as well, you could have a near-black game, but still a few landmarks shine through, it could be playable and still a challenge.
I imagine fett's wife peeking in through the door asking ... are you playing a video game or just happy to see me? [looks inside] oh ... :erg:

One thing I once tried, and I think it's a nice challenge, is to play the game without sounds - switch off your speakers. I couldn't believe it, I felt like being blind, it's quite surprising.
Somehow this reveals the strength of the gameplay, you really need the sound if you want to play.

@DrK
I tried that once or twice. It's funny when your hitpoints disappear all of the sudden.:eek:
Since there are no deaf action heroes from Asia (at least none that I'm aware of), I suggest we call it the Ludwig Van-Challenge.

Turning off sounds would be easier for me, because I'd end up walking into a wall for half an hour and wonder why I haven't gotten to the end yet if my monitor were off.

IIRC, someone actually did play Thief with his monitor turned off - only by sound. And he did complete Bafford.
...don't know if he tried, let alone played through any other missions that way.
