Just played The Abominable Dr. Dragon, by Chiefdreams again, and it is such a cleverly made FM. Loved the stained glass Hammers, the green Frankenstein and all the other new AI's.
Haven't heard anything more about him since his FM debut. Does anyone know what happened to the Chief? Last I read, he was working on an FM but that was some years back.

Perhaps someone has heard something but the only thing I can tell you is that he hasn't posted here since 2010. I hope he shows up again some day.

I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting in an old thread but I'm back. As TheChiefdreams because I can't remember my old password or my old email account and they won't let me in without that so.

Certainly not, and great to see you again! Do you have any missions in the works?

Wonderful, welcome back! We can restore your old username and account, if you prefer. Just send me a PM if you'd like to do that, or post here.

Names from the past, thanks everyone. yes I have a T2 fan mission that I spent tons of time on and I believe Clayman did a run through. I still need to see if I have it and I have to school myself on Dromed again. Or do you guys think it would be better to find T3 and start over with it?

New Dark refers to a patch which was developed for T1/G/T2 and System Shock using the original source code. In addition to fixing a lot of game bugs, as well as making the games compatible with modern hardware, it also addressed many issues in Dromed, as well as greatly increasing most of the old limits (brush, object, etc.). Much more is now possible with Dromed than ever was possible before. And the patch process has been ongoing; as each version was used and tested, new fixes were created and the patch updated to a new version.
When the first patch came out, it was known as the New Dark 1.19 patch, since the latest official Thief game version released was 1.18. We are now up to version 1.23. Here is a link to the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140085) original New Dark 1.19 thread in case you are interested.
Here is the latest (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145511) 1.23 version thread.
In addition to the New Dark patch, a new program called (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131106) Tafferpatcher has been developed which will install Thief 2, patch it with the New Dark patch, as well as many new optional mods, and tweak your Thief setup so that everything works right out of the box, so to speak.
A similar program called (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134733) TFix will do the same for T1/Gold.
Just be sure to read the instructions for the New Dark patch, as well as for Tafferpatcher and TFix should you use them. They are easy to follow, but if you have any questions, just ask in one of those threads.
Along with New Dark comes a new fan mission loader, to be used in place of Darkloader, for example. It is called FM Selector (or FM Sel, for short), and is the loader of choice for New Dark missions, though it will work for all missions. You can continue to use Darkloader if you prefer, but some newer missions will likely have problems. Instructions for using FM Sel can be found (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140093) here.
You'll find quite a few threads in the Editor's Guild about using New Dark Dromed, as well as new written and video tutorials, most (if not all) of which are listed in the New Dark section of the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131800) Tutorials thread.
