For me, Fallout 1 is one of the greatest games I ever played, Fallout Tactics is terribly underrated, Fallout 2 is terribly
overrated
I am not alone :wot:
Have yet to try Fallout 3, sitting on the shelve but going to wait for the dark days, way too restless for such a time-consuming game when the sun does it's thing.

In all honesty it's a very sunny game. You'll spend quite a bit of time in the wasteland heat.
And you'll spend quite a lot of time underground with nothing for company but the gutteral growls of feral ghouls...

Then I wonder how is it possible that you have embraced F3 with ecstatic, almost uncritical enthusiasm. I repeat for Xth time, it's a fair game in it's own terms, it introduced the Fallout universe to many newcomers, but cmon... Fallout veterans should have better idea? :erg:

Now that I'm going back and playing FO1 again, I really don't see any significant difference between FO1 and FO3. I can't compare it to 2, because I haven't played it, but the atmosphere/dialogue/story/writing/lack-of-difficulty/cookie-cutter-architecture/signpost-NPCs seems pretty much identical between both games.

OMG FER SHER
CAN I TELL YOU WHERE THINGS ARE IN TOWN, CAN I MARK OTHER TOWNS ON YOUR MAP, WOULD YOU LIKE A QUEST WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EITHER PISSING ME OFF OR MAKING ME HUMP YOUR LEG BLACK AND WHITE MORALITY STYLE, WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW WHICH NPC SIGNPOST TO TALK TO TO GET A QUEST, WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW WHERE TO GO TO NEXT, WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUY AND/OR SELL SOMETHING?
^^^^^ 99% of the NPC dialog in FO1 or 3, give or take some skill-checks which seem more common in FO3
