With a particulary buggy and careless release I am fine with people stealing it, just not something I would do myself, wouldn't know how if I wanted to in the first place.
I have one problem with this: bad Quality Assurance often is linked to a publisher rushing a developer - yet it's the devs who get hurt most if a programme is boycotted, because the publisher will blame them.
Some of my favourite games ever were extremely buggy on release:
Arcanum,
Fallout 2,
Vampire: Bloodlines,
Operation Flashpoint,
Stalker.

Perhaps, but I'm comfortable with this. If anyone gets enough fun out of a game to play it for a considerable time, then I simply don't buy the "It's not worth it" argument. If that's how they want to do it, fine, but if they say in public that's what they're doing, I'll happily call them hypocrites.
What if they got enough fun out of the pirate for it to be "maybe 10 bucks worth of fun", but the actual game is retailing for $40?
You know, just to stir things up..

I just know someone's going to nuke me if I say anything about playing pirate versions and not buying the games because I think they're not worth it...
...o-oh... incoming!!!
I have to agree, Dead Space is so bad that it's probably not worth the money but worth the download.

Then why not wait until it's out on budget?
Let's face it, in most cases the "It's not worth the money so I'll pirate it!" argument isn't an argument so much as a rationalisation. If you pirate a game rather than buying it, be honest about it - you're doing it because you want to play a game but not pay for it. If you want to rationalise, fine, but expect to be called a hypocrite.

So if I get this straight, you don't know how bad it is? How come?

Do you have any idea what happens to your money when you pay for a game?

Just to stir things up more, what about people who pirate the game because the pirated copy works but the retail version comes crippled with DRM and activation limits that they don't want on their computers?
And don't say "Then you should buy the game, not use your bought version and download a working version", because that's clearly just stupid and only encourages them to make more games with that garbage in them.
For example, I personally had planned to buy Bioshock when it came out, but once I heard about the DRM I just steered clear of it.
Though I never actually pirated it either.
... Also, way to derail Digi's thread.

So why doesn't he buy one and pirate the rest. That'll make this morality of piracy shitstorm relevant to the thread and we can carry on arguing about it.

I can't imagine not buying a game just because it has DRM. There are effective ways to make a stand, and (to me) that is not one of them. You're just depriving yourself, and the developer/publisher couldn't care less.
