It seems that my broken english make people misunderstand me.
So, I apologise to everybody being offended.
By saying Fighting christians in thief, I meant crusaders with swords. As some of you may know, they were not Christians exactly.
Actually, this is offensive in some way, too.
I just wanted to make Thief more Earth-like.

I think Eastern Orthodox type buildings in FM's would look cool, people squeeze all kinds of symbolism into fan missions all of the time.

Good grief. Hammerites ARE Christians. Just, in a parallel-universe sort of way.
Yeah, exactly. Thief already has Catholics, Pan-Worshippers, Druids, and an atheist protagonist. Instead of adding real life establishments to the game, I'd rather see someone use their creativity and make Thief-like parallels to things that haven't been in the game before. Or new ways of looking at things that are there (are there any missions with off-duty plain-clothed Hammerites talking about how they aren't allowed to eat Burrick on fridays?).

There's a thought! And how about that shed load of East-of-Suez architecture waiting to be used in FMs? It would certainly give the missions a new look.

The problem here is the intention...
This blatantly rings of fear and intolerance. Where next? "Hey, anybody think it would be cool to have a FM where you get to kill Jews?" or "How about a mission where Muslims get butchered?"
Ah, but, of course, Christians are SAFE targets - no fear of repurcussions there, eh?
Well said. Just what I was thinking but prettier in words... :)

And I think making thief more "Earth-like" is a bad idea...
Having it not be seems to be one of the points of playing does it not?
If you feel a certain way, just create a satyre of it (just like the hammerites with early catholicism)
That's the safest route.

I am not a writer. My english is not fluent so...
Random_Taffer on 11/3/2006 at 20:37
my point is..If you feel a certain way, and you're afraid of offending people, make a satyre of it. That way is safest. Just like the hammers are a satyre of early catholicism.

I thought the 'meat' ban only applied to beasts (a) with cloven hooves, and (b) who chewed their cud?

I don't believe a hammerite meat ban was mentioned in any Thief lore. :)
