My game shipped with no vast manual.

There's a pdf version with the game. It's in your steam folder if you got it through there, or there's even a download link to it in this thread.

Nope. City hexes are no-mans-land for units if there's already one stationed there.
are you using the numpad to move? if you use the mouse to set a move path you definitely can move through a city that is occupied by another unit, but not if you use the numpad to move 1 hex at a time.

Yes, I'm aware this this is the first Civ to have a manual that can't be read while actually playing the game.

Still haven't got mine to work on account of a "black screen at startup" crash.
Tried EVERYTHING suggested on the help forums. Best use of £29.99 ever :/

im guessing that was in a game with so many players it had to re-use civs. i used to do that in civ 4 and it was barely manageable because you at least had your diplomacy "score" with each one so you could tell them apart, but in civ 5 there's no way to tell which one youre currently talking to. so for now i cant have a game with more than 19 civs :(
(having said that I much prefer the diplomacy in civ 5)

The first really major (
http://store.steampowered.com/news/4789/) patch has been released. For the most part it focuses on improving AI, adding to the diplomacy, and weakening some strategies that were deemed too strong.
I am curious what the general reaction to the game is on TTLG. I love the game, but saying so on CivFanatics would get me lynched quicker than you can say "lolol jon shafer sux dick". In particular I think the diplomacy, even before this patch, was already a huge improvement over previous games in the series, but a lot of people seem to think it to be an objective fact that the diplomacy is a terrible blight upon humanity. I maintain that this is because they are bad at it.
edit: oh and tomorrow the first new paid-for DLC is released which adds Isabella of Spain and Pachacuti of the Inca.

First Civ game I've ever hated. I kept telling myself that I'd follow at least one game through to completion before giving up on Civ V entirely, but in the end I couldn't even manage that.
