I can't believe they made Oda Nobunaga the Japanese leader! :thumb: Nobody's heard of him.

I don't think that Nobunaga's ambition was ever released in the UK, and I have no idea how successful or not it was in the US. Being a bit of a Nobunaga fanboy, I have played a couple of of incarnations of it in Japanese, which involved quite a bit of study before they could be played! Some really great diplomatic/strategic AI there. Beats many modern games in my opinion.
It makes me wonder how much AI depends on the 'I' of the writer.
For example, I've recently been playing Alpha Centauri for the first time and been impressed that my alliance with Deidre is actually working like an alliance. ie: she's actually helping me in battles and stuff. Recent Civ games (good as they are) are a bit lacking in this respect.
I'm glad that AI is apparently one of their main focus points for Civ5. I wonder if they'll think to look at older games for inspiration?

Who the fuck has never heard of Oda Nobunaga? Jesus, what backwoods school did you attend?
Sorry for harshin' you, but my God, man...

Who is Oda Nobunaga?

Will this one have a good tutorial? Mind you I haven't played Civ since Civ2, so they might have put one in after that. It's the only thing that ever kept me from playing it since I never had any idea what I was doing.

Just Zylonbane I guess. And it is possible to, you know, learn about stuff voluntarily.
I imagine that this Civ will have a tutorial. CivRev had too much of one in my opinion.

Somebody in this thread seems to have misread something.

Oh yes, and it's me. Hurrah!
A lesson in not just assuming what someone would probably write.
