As for this litle conversation, I am now done.
I've made my point and told you how it works. If you still dont' get it or stll think i'm wrong then tough shit... /Azal directs Kong to a litle thing called the Southern Hemisphere. :laff:
Rather than getting all huffy, you should just have stopped at "I really have no clue". It was about the only thing in your post you got right.
----EDIT----
And if you STILL fail to understand, click (

Lookie what you'll see:

Current time zone offset: GMT +13 hours
Kong on 16/1/2003 at 02:01
The point I was trying to make, was that the time zone technically does not change to GMT +13.
Yes, it's GMT +12 + daylight savings.
However, I have never had to change my time to GMT -4 when daylight savings happens over here.
Which brings me to the other point I was tyring to make.
Setting the forums to GMT +12 should work.
If it doesn't then there's not thing you can do.

That just brings us back to the whole Southern Hemisphere thing again.
The mighty TTLG servers are located in the Northern Hemisphere and the daylight savings adjustments are calculated for that location.
Down in the Southern Hemisphere, daylight savings do not occur at the same time. It's a little thing, I know, but do try to understand - it holds the key to this whole business. It's the whole things about the Earth's axial inclination, the reversal of seasons and all that science type stuff.
I hope I won't have to bore you with an explanation, where I come from most kindergarted kids know about this sort of thing, so I can only presume you do too, but have just forgotten about it.
You, who are in the North, never experience the "error" in the timezones because you share the same hemisphere as the mighty TTLG servers (and Saam and Digi).
Mopgoblin, and anyone else in the Southern Hemisphere, does not.
What this means is that for several months each year, every member who lives in the Southern Hemisphere has to set their forum timezone ahead/back by one hour in order to get the right time to appear.
Hence the need for a GMT +13 timezone for everyone in a country with GMT +12 in the Southern Hemisphere that is currently operating under daylight savings time.
Which ties up back to mopgoblin's original post that, "I can select any time offset I want for the forums, except for the one I'm actually living in (GMT+13)."
Please say you finally understand, it's so tedious having to explain this sort of thing.

First off, I know what the southern hemisphere is, I know what the nothern hemisphere is.
I understand what daylight savings is and how it works.
What I said in my last post, was to try and clarify what I was saying earlier.
It seems I forgot to add the part where I ment to admit I didn't consider the idea of the server time.
The only thing I can think for mopgoblin to do is set timezones to GMT +12 (on any server) and see what the time goes to. There's not much else that can be done unless you add a GMT +12 + daylight savings to the forum code.

[grabs a bag of popcorn and waits for the action...] I was planning an attack but don't really feel like it anymore.
I'll go at some point... just not now.

Of course! Get away, yes. So he can be followed back to his HQ. A demonstration is not effective without an audience...
