All that stuff in the manual about 'a world you can become immersed in' suggests at least Cliffffoiii Beeee thought it was serious
I played a bit of coop on Xbox. Got lost, walked through some rubble and got stuck behind it. Now
that's immersion.
Quit the game then and there. So boring.

Play certainly and soon, buy - I doubt, considering the high DRM levels.
Once again, Koki is part of the problem.

You getting lost in Gears of War is certainly telling.

I'm a big supporter of Gears of War (if you couldn't already tell), but the story and characters ARE shit, there's no way around it.
"Well we're not here to sell cookies so they know something's up!"
I literally took my hand off of the controller and facepalmed at the sheer ridicule of this sentence. Now let's look at a line from Call of Duty 4.
"I thought you guys would've left me behind."
"Well that was my first thought but your ass had all the C4."
Now that's a believable line. Yes, it's also a joke but the dialogue is simply, for lack of a better word, GOOD. You can't just brush away people who thought Gears was poorly written by saying that they're just too serious. By that logic no dialogue in the history of video games can be bad, which simply isn't true.
What I found most disappointing about Gears was that it had potential. The backstory of the game is actually rather interesting, and Epic's promised to have a much deeper story for the second game. I sincerely hope they've learned their mistake in that regard.

No man, you've got it wrong. I love COD4, but that line doesn't even compare. When Marcus says the line about the cookies, it's awesome. It's Bender for god's sake! The story does kinda suck, but the characters are far more memorable than any of the COD4 guys (except maybe Captain Price).

A tad harsh.

P'haps, but for some reason everything Epic does pisses me off. I think it's because I still remember the old Jazz Jackrabbit/Safari Software/etc. days from before Unreal, and they've completely and utterly sold their soul. And it pisses me off. Their attitude is appalling and I think it's an example of why this industry is going to hell in a handbasket.

Casual? What's with this new concept of 'casual' = 'easy'? This seems to be the same thing that Ubisoft is looking to do with Beyond Good & Evil 2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't half the point of a game being a game that people need to gain some skill with it to reach the end?
Seems to me, if they're going to all these lengths to strip out any meaningful challenge from their games, developers might as well just call 'em 'interactive movies' and market 'em as such.
