I have finished the 'destroying the clocktower' level, and am now stuck in the city trying to find the Keeper's Library. I have been around and around in circles for two hours trying to find some way to the place.
I cannot get to Terece's Courtyard, and I cannot get to Old Quarter either. Exactly what am I supposed to do? I know there's a glyph around somewhere, but I can't find it. The only glyphs I can find either lead to other parts of Stonemarket or to a small room with loaves of bread and a bit of gold.

Climbing gloves and the window around the corner isn't it?
Just above where the entrance used to be...

Aha. Thanks. Um, the window around the corner from where? I'm not even sure which part of Stonemarket I'm supposed to be in.

Well, I downloaded Wynde's saved games, but unfortunately Thief keeps saying they are corrupted files, and won't load them. I downloaded some other ones (earlier version?), and while they work sound doesn't exist in the game anymore (and Thief is really a game which benefits from sound).

Do you have the game patched?
If it's an old disc from off a shelf it might not be the patched version - if it's an official download it probably will be.
Other than that, well, it's been a while since I did the OMs, but it should be the same part of the city that the Clocktower base was it - with the little courtyard you met Artemis in. There's a tiny alleyway at the end of the building outside that yard, and up on the left I think is the entrance.
I think - as I say, it's been a while.

It's version 1.1. The problem is that I cannot find that courtyard. It isn't accessible anymore.

The Keeper Library entrance is not in Terces Courtyard, it's around the corner from it.
Here's how to get there from the end of the Clocktower mission, when you're dumped back in Stonemarket Plaza. Click on the pics and follow the red arrows.
Just an FYI, the images are hosted on a site that has BOOBIES in the banners, so technically it's probably not safe for work

1. Head down to the end of the street and left into the alley.

2. Exit the alley to the west, and round the corner.

3. Down the lane and head right.

4. Pass the patrolling guard, down to the end of the street, and head left towards the dark corner/crate.

5. Face the wall to the south and either click the door glyph, or jump and mantle up to the other entrance.
