Yesterday, the last of the components I ordered for my brother's computer arrived, and we now have it set up. Since we now both have computers capable of running modern games, and we both connect to the same wireless router, we were thinking of finding some good co-op games to play. RPGs are no problem, since many have multiplayer that would work well, but there seem to be few games from other genres that have online or LAN co-op. What are your recommendations?

Doom co-op.
Would also recommend Alien Swarm.

Both Red Alert 3 and the upcoming Dawn of War 2 have coop campaigns, AFAIK.

Serious Sam & Serious Sam second encounter are oh so seconded. Do not confuse second encounter with the rather awful Serious Sam 2.

Thanks everyone for the input. It looks like Serious Sam is a definite yes. Alien Swarm could be fun, but my brother's got friendly fire issues as it is.
A co-op RTS sounds like a great idea, I'll look into that.

That's what you should have said.
LEGO Star Wars I & II, Indiana Jones and Batman are all coop games at the core, the developers only included a helpful AI to help those without friends. Gamepad is highly recommended though. Of course, the coop is on the same PC, so they may not be excactly what you're looking for.
I believe Freedom Force (and FF vs 3rd Reich) has coop as well. Never tried it myself though.

Left 4 Dead and Alien Swarm.
Essential the same premise, and it's a good one.
