Oh man, Alien Swarm! By the way, what's going on with the announced stand-alone sequel, Infested? Last time I checked, the game looked like it was close to completion, yet their website hasn't been updated since, like, September 2007.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the articles linked to in the 'Upcoming 2009 Games' thread from earlier this month.

Hidden and Dangerous (Deluxe version a free legal download these days, just Google it) The sequel also includes co-op, but only with the expansion pack, but players have been modding the original campaign maps to make them playable in co-op.

I'll just second a few already mentioned. Serious Sam and the Second Encounter, SWAT 4 + The Stetchkov Syndicate, and Chaos Theory.

Yeah, it was mentioned, just like it was back in 2007 and 2008. But it's not saying much about the game's real current status.

If you didn't catch the thread on it, about 500 Thief 2 FMs can all be played co-op now.
A good number of them are already set up very well for it ... the big, open-ended ones with lots of AI especially.

Unreal 1 coop. You might want to install the latest (
http://www.oldunreal.com/downloads.html) OldUnreal patch though for better hardware support. The whole single player can be played in coop mode :thumb:.
Then of ocurse there's (
http://www.svencoop.com) SvenCoop for Half-Life 1 but the maps are usually suited for more than 4 players.

I'll look into Thief, I know he's quite fond of the first, even if he does tend to be rather un-thiefy.
I was reading up on Serious Sam 2 on Wikipedia and found this:
Quote:
One of the main criticisms of the game was that it was a lot less "serious" and a lot more "cartoony" than The First Encounter and The Second Encounter.[33] Lighter colors and a more upbeat soundtrack made the atmosphere of the game feel less grounded in reality, contrary to the realistic Egyptian tombs and Mayan pyramids of the earlier games
What the flying fuck?
Realism?!?

To help you out, the guns just aren't fun. They sound like firecrackers. The enemies aren't fun to kill. Also, not neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeearly as many enemies. Very meh.
