Don't know if this is spoilerful enough to warrant it going in the separate forum. I was just wondering if there is actually any point collecting the maps for each of the missions in TDS? I get the impression that you get given them by the game at the start of each mission anyway, is there any difference between the two (collected versus given)?

No. In my opinion, only the city map and the cradle map were somehow useful during the game. The missions did not tend to be that complex as they were in the predecessors... you do not need a map to find the undead, though. ;)

Erm... what? My point was that during both play throughs of the game (on PC) I was given a map to the level regardless of whether or not I had bothered to grab one. And I'm bloody glad I have one, something like the Pagan Sanctuary can get mighty disorienting!

For most of them it shouldn't be giving you one, but I can't remember how many of them have maps you need to find seperately: I don't think all of them do.
But if you have one and it gives another it shouldn't make any difference - it just thinks in terms of "Do I have it? - If Yes then draw this texture..."

I must have a buggy copy. I just though that cause I re installed it and it happened again it would be more likely that it was a common error.

Iirc, you don't get the maps automatically on higher difficulty level(s?). Then you need to find them, or be without them.

And if you wouldn't find them, then you would do what? Take the two extra minutes that are required to memorize the tiny levels and you are set. Not that it is hard to find anything in TDS. Maps and readables are virtually shoved in your face and liberally spread everywhere, so you would have to go out of your way to NOT find them anyway.

My God your posts get so boring so quickly. You hate TDS, WE GET THE PICTURE.

Maps in TDS were really ridiculous, it would be better if the game didn't include such maps at all. They seemed like tiny childish pictures.

maps are only really necessary in the museum, which, for a TDS level is actually pretty big.
