#3: Garrett; Thief: The Dark Project (PC)
Garrett is an above-average thief in the medieval ages who, well, steals stuff. Of course, the games plot goes much deeper than that, but most of the memorable moments would be spoilers. Being set in the medieval ages leaves Garrett with somewhat restricted array of gadgets and weapons, but all of them stay true to the time period of the game. He has a dark personality that I feel sets the mood perfectly, and besides, who wouldn't want to be a thief in the medieval ages? With everything we know nowadays, stealing would be a piece of cake.
Well, I'd disagree that he is JUST above average, and we all know that it isn't medieval.

Fisher might have a bigger gun but he'd never even see Garrett coming! *THUMP*

So nobody wants to be Lara Croft?
They want to be Link, a skinny elf-nerd, but not Lara Croft?
Seriously, what are these people's priorities?

:p lol :joke: you make a good point there demagogue !!

Plus, a limited amount of "gadgets" means you have to get by on skill. I get tired of stealth gaming with things like, say, Snake's chameleon suit that I just saw in a MGS4 demo.
Call me a Thief snob. I care not. (not to mention that "I get tired of" also translates to "I'm not as good at")

Lara Croft is an over-rated T-rated peice of digital filth created simply because the age-old idiom that "sex sells" is, unfortunately, very true.
The person I'd want to be more an anyone would be... Jackie Estacado, not only does he walk the shadows, but the shadows are literally an extension of a vast and very beautifully sadistic power. Dear god, I loved The Darkness, until some fucker stole my 360. You just cant beat impaling a car, crushing someone whose using it as a shield with it, then eating their hearts. GOD DAMN YOU!! TAKE MY SADISTIC PLEASURE!!

Obviously, (
http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/review/R637.html) this idiot who gave it a 7/10 didn't bother getting good enough to sneak effectively.

Despite all the hype, the end result is still the same: Your objective is to take down anyone in the way between you and your objective. Instead of using a shotgun, you have to quietly use a blackjack; but when everything is said and done, there is still not much difference. The game play ends up being more "Thug: The Whomping Project" then "Thief: The Dark Project".

Always with the violence.
RavynousHunter on 9/11/2007 at 17:28
Yeah, I never trust game reviewers. Mostly because they are ignorant rubes who dont know their ass from a hole in the ground. But being violent in Thief is alomst more rewarding than it is in any other game, simply for the fact that you can go thru an entire level, killing everyone, and never be seen.

Yeah, I never trust game reviewers.
I'm not sure I'd call the people providing reviews on gamefaqs actually reviewers. More like random people from the wide world of internet, hence the idiocy of the above.
Although I'll admit, I like the name 'Thug: The Whomping Project'.
