Honestly, you could probably put a good 65% of the entire human population somewhere on the shallow end of the Autism spectrum. I know a couple of people who were diagnosed with Asperger's back when it was still officially a thing, and I wouldn't describe them as being particularly awkward or strange. A little shy maybe, but hardly a quivering ball of extreme social disabilities.
One thing they definitely weren't were those desperate cry for attention roving bands of self diagnosed aspies you used to see on the internet a few years back.

Whe you read the basic diagnosis, it's mostly just "shy nerd", which is IMO unfortunate. My ex was more on the "quivering ball" end of things, and the side effects were not mild tendencies. I think that test would work better if "slightly" anything didn't count. She wasn't "slightly" averse to loud noises. She didn't have "slight" difficulties figuring out motivations and intentions.

Exactly. When you're in "shy nerd" territory, you might be showing the occasional autistic tendencies, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're autistic.
If you tried hard enough, you could paint every single one of us here with the broad asperger's brush. We all have something we're obsessed over. Something we fixate on, and spend an inordinate amount of time with. If someone brings it up in conversation, we'll probably yak on about it forever if given the chance. That doesn't mean we're actually on the autistic spectrum. We're just big fans of something.
Being on the spectrum isn't so much about what you tend to do, rather what you struggle with. If you have trouble reading body language, if you find yourself regularly not quite getting a joke, if you have trouble discerning someone's mood, if you have trouble understanding normal behavioral actions and reactions, then yeah, you might be autistic. If I were to attempt classifying autism with a single label (and keep in mind I don't hold any sort of degree), I'd call it a communications disability. The spectrum covers people who just have problems interpreting the occasional social cues, to someone who finds other people as unreadable, and their actions entirely alien.
Simply being a little socially awkward and obsessed with anime doesn't make you autistic. It just means you're a shy nerd.
