 Playing the english version of TDP,off an original CD that was purchased from Sold out games U.K. and have a question.
At what point in the story did Constantine remove Garretts eye?I seem to remember ,on the german version ,that it was right after I retrieved the "Eye" from the Haunted Cathedral. Garrett gives it to Constantine, and looses his eyeball. Then Garrett is rescued by the keepers thus beginning the mission "Escape".Right or wrong? If I'm right ,then is the "Sold Out U.K." version censored? The movie about Garrett loosing his eye does not run,and is also nowhere to be found in the movie data on the C.D.(Maybe this too is without moral).

I've played the SoldOut version before and the cut scene was there.
Don't think our games get censored or if the European versions do, I thought it was because of German law.
Strange.

However, videos tend to disappear in the Thief games. Have a look at the Indeo Codecs (forum stickies, search function etc.) if this is not the only missing movie. In general no Thief game was censored in Germany AFAIK.

I found the cutscene on the C.D.,but it did not play in the game. This version I'm playing is the English ,U.K. version, purchased online ,from the U.K.. The first version I ever owned before this one was the German version, and it plays on that one.All the other cutscenes in the U.K. version have played as normal till now.
The thing is ,I'm introducing my "better half" to the thief universe and Garretts story, starting with TDP ,then to TMA and DS,as it should be.Thats how I noticed that this one important part of how Garrett ended up with his mechanical eye was missing. On top of that,if someone was to play this version, that has no knowledge of the story,it would be completely confusing. You drop off from Return to the Cathedral and blast right in to escape without any explaination of whats going on.

And it's one of the best moments in any game, that sense of betrayal and foolishness.

Sad thing is,I won't buy anymore games from "Sold Out".Not even Tetris.

Well this is yet another tale of S.O.S. tweaking the games for whatever dumb reason.

I have the Sold Out version of the game, and the cutscene plays just fine. Are you sure this problem is related to that particular cutscene and isn't a generic issue with the Indeo codec?

I'm sure it isn't Sold-Out's fault, the cutscenes in this game are famously finicky about playing due to codec and other issues. I've got a Sold-Out copy and that cutscene plays fine.
I assume all the other briefings/cutscenes are playing properly? It's probably as simple as a corrupt c**.avi

Pretty sure.I've made it to the "maw" and all the cutscenes have played fine ,with the one exception,so far.
Went back and played "Return to the Cathedral" again,in the hope that I maybe caused a glitch by not following instructions from, or listening to ,brother Muras' ghost(or whatever his name was) completely. On the first play through I had just collected all the items (rosary, holy symbol, candle, and prayer book) ,and I also blessed the symbol ,before being told to.In the cemetary after the consecreation,I just grabbed the key for the attic and ran off while he was still talking.
On the second run I waited for instructions, and did things one at a time, and waited for him to finish thanking me.
Still no cutscene.
Installation glitch? No matter,as I played the scene manually from the movies file.Just strange that this is the only cutscene that won't run.
