Eric and Greg are among the five applicants on a patent for the guitar controller for Guitar Hero! Hope it goes through. I have one patent app myself and am in the process of submitting two more at the moment, it's a fun and sometimes frustrating process (depending heavily on the quality of your legal dept).

For those who don't know who these guys are, they worked on the Thief and System Shock games for LGS and ISA. Eric is the genius behind the sound and ambients in the games.

Actually, I can't go into details since technically my employer owns the potential patents, not me. But they just have to do with software design, which can actually be a bit trickier than hardware patents since it's usually more abstract.

And the quality of your Patent Office. Some of the junk that the USPTO will accept makes the whole process seem more like a territorial land grab/arms race than anything to do with promoting innovation.
