Hey y'all. I'm thinking about picking up an Xbox for cheap now that they're old hat to play Deadly Shadows on. My other option is to upgrade the heck out of my PC (nearly five years old now) to get it to work. I've tried on a much better system before and found the game barely ran at all, to the extent that it wouldn't let me get through the first door at the inn. That kind of put me off (I hated the new lock picking bit as well).
I guess I just wanted to know if the Xbox version has any performance issues and if it's worth playing for a fan of Thief 1&2. I know I'm gonna get a much better frame-rate etc on a PC, that doesn't bother me though, just intrigued by the idea of playing Thief on a console.

No major performance issues, nice and fluid on box. Controls are very nice if you've used to padding.
There are a couple of missions that I can safely say you'll like, so it's a good buy for a t1&2 lover.
As an added bonus, in xbox version, you can look around while lockpicking. Something you can't do in PC-version. :)
I'm not actually sure if the difficulty level bug came with the xbox version -- if it did, it basically means you'll be stuck on normal difficulty level since xbox games cannot be patched (easily anyway).

Difficulty bug exists on the XBox version and obviously there's nothing that can be done about it. Every time you reload or restart the game, the difficulty resets itself to Easy. Since even on Expert, the A.I. are a bunch of wussies, this makes for a very un-challenging experience IMO.

Actually, you can. You just need to hold down a button to do it, shift I believe.

So I'm currently playing thru DS, up to the level after the clocktower where I've had to pause for a few weeks while I'm away from my 'box. Just one question, is there any way to get a sword? Because it sucks that Garrett forgot how to handle one. I'm sure this has been discussed before muchly but I couldn't find any threads to help me.

Man that must suck if you have the xbox version and want a challenge. How could such a bug have gone unnoticed???
I have it on PC and would like to play on Expert but I'm hesitant because it's not the AI difficulty that bothers me but actually the necessity to find 90 % of the loot. Must be very annoying on some levels I guess... Otherwise I'd play it all the time on Expert. I've done some tweaking to the AI in the config files, but the game's still too easy IMO.

Just the nature of the final days of development. The devs knew the game really needed a little more work, but they weren't allowed the extra time to fix it up..which is too bad.
