Constant scrolling and movement problems with Thief 3 help needed. - by Throstle

When I install Thief on to my computer and start playing, he will constantly move forward, only stopping still if I push the walk backward key. I am able to fix this by going into the options menu and deleting some of the game pad inputs from the right colume in the game controls area. But even after doing that, any menus or briefing still scroll up to the top right away. I can pull them down but it's like a fish swimming to get away toward the top again. Any help?
I have:
windows XP
intel 3.4 Ghz
Radeon 9800
audology 2
all drivers are up to date.
Thanks,
Eric

Do you have a gamepad actually plugged in still? Other people have had the same issues before and found unplugging one or installing T3 again without the gamepad pluggin in resolves the problem.

No I don't have a game pad plugged in. I have tried to reinstalling the game but still has the same problem. I might buy a game pad and plug it in to see if that helps. Do most people play with game pads? I found the key mapping file and did some adjustments. there are no keys pointing toward a gamepad. Still has not helped though. :p

There are two problems that cause this, that I know of, both have been answered here somewhere...
One is joystick related - if you have any sort of joystick device plugged in, this can cause this problem - just remove it.
Another one was a certain type of keyboard - not sure how they fixed that problem.

Do you have a Saitek Gamers Keyboard? Same thing happened to me. To test this unplug the USB cable and suddenly you can scroll up and down normally. I just switched my older keyboard on my newer machine.

Had that a few time, don't ask me why but enabling/disabling caps-lock did the trick for me.
