No no no... I want it to still simple! Adding categories is never easy...
Plus, because in some countries the best rate is 1 while in some other it is A or 20.... it is always confusing...
And to affirm that I refuse to allow such way of voting: If I don't have an external website for voting (thing that I don't have), I'll get in trouble because people will have to vote per PM or posts... And because we will have theorically 12 missions now, It won't make my day when you know that TTLG community have more than one hundred Thief players (And one hundred is surely a rate far away from the real number!) :laff:
And I prefer the poll where people just have to choose their favorite mission(s) (Maybe a multichoice if some players have some hesitation). And nothing more...
We already did that with the 48 hour contest, and nobody complains about it! ^^

I only got 3 votes for my entry which was dissapointing enough. I'm assuming it will be the higher up authors getting most votes since it won't be as fair as my idea  but oh well it only matters how well the mission was, not who made it. Am I Right?

Your missions are very good SneakyGuy, I for one will submit my contest entry as anonymous, that way there cannot be any possible discrimination whether you are fairly new at the game or a veteran.

That's very nice of you but you don't really have to that for me but it would seem fair to other people too so I guess it's a nice thing to do for everyone. I did say to have fun though so I shouldn't really be beating myself up over a silly contest. I guess it's just regular teenager hormones acting up :laff:

SneakyGuy if you want to encourage people to play yours and vote on it, make the name really stand out as much as possible, the story as interesting as you can and even make the first room or two be the absolute best you can so that people are encouraged to play on. But other than that, maybe it's fair to accept that players prefered other missions over yours. You still came in second in that contest with your first mission, that should be some encouragement. But also be aware, there are several dromed heavyweights in this contest (and I suspect some more are hiding behind the anonymous tag as well). Just push to do the best you can.
This might defeat the purpose of having some authors anonymous and some known by name, but why not have every mission released anonymously then? That way people won't play and vote for a mission based upon the author's name alone.
SneakyGuy101 on 17/11/2014 at 02:59
Well in that case I would actually like to be anonymous because it would make people try to guess or maybe even think of it as being similar to work from other authors :laff: good thinking Xorak, good thinking

Xorak & Sneakguy:
Yeah, the name can influence, so if it can help, I'll release them all anonymously. ^^ As for the 48 hour contest!
Look at me: I was ALWAYS last in reloading contest! In Halloween contest, third among five.
And suprisely, in the 48h contest I was second just behind Drk. DRK dudes!! And It was very closed! ;)
This is with such thing that make me see that everybody got his own chance! And Drk is easy to be reconized! x)
So the name don't do everything! :cheeky:
But yeah, anonymous release is the thing that I'll do :D

I really don't think anonymity has anything to do there. Don't you consider you just got better and better with time ? ;)
As for me, I never used my "fame" (whatever it is) to influence people to vote for me. And when a vote has to be cast, I completely disregard the name of the authors, even when they are friends. Only the best missions get my vote, and I do hope a lot of people here do the same.
FireMage on 17/11/2014 at 19:04
Yes DrK!
That what I wanted to say! (Not clearly because I don't know how to speak english correctly! xD)
I wanted to tell that the name can have influence, because some author got fans! It is not a secret! ^^
But this influence is clearly little! ;) Because players will try all missions anyway, and if they find better than their favorite author, they can vote for it!
About my situation, I'm not saying that the anonymous status has helped, no. Because even if you are anonymous, we reconized you immediately DrK ^^ So, if our mission were with close result, it means really that the author will never add more change to the vote than the mission itself! ;)
But, If it can help contestant to be more relax, we could publish the contest mission anonymously ^^ It will depend on the contestants opinion!

You do have a point there FireMage. People will probably recognize the mission that I made since I'm probably the only one making my mission with Thief Gold instead of Thief 2. So it might actually be pointless to be anonymous since everyone knows I make all of my missions using Thief Gold :p I still want it anonymous though :laff:
