figure out the right order to use the two lockpicks in. When choosing a wrong lockpick the lock resets instead of just doing nothing so you have to start over.
Yes, but I didn't think it was a problem, just clever design.
When you pick the lock if it returns to position, you've used the wrong lockpick... by this I mean for the last two lockpicks you pick with (I think the triangular) then pick with the same lockpick again. If you switch to square it resets the lock.
I thought the author had done this purposefully, a kind of mini problem to solve.
Edit: guess me and the elusive one were posting at the same time!!!

I couldn't close the doors again. They would stop spinning, but not go back to the original positions. I tried it several times. It's not a real problem to restart, because you haven't really done that much before you get to that point.

ok, I have played about 6 of these missions, and I just have a couple of questions. 1. Where can we vote/comment on the missions? 2. In Old Comrades, Old Debts is there anything worth having in the locked chest behind the thief on the top floor? I can't get close enough to pick it w/o being discovered and I can't get past him. I have
read the journal, got the key, opened the chest against the far wall from the stairs already.
I had to give up in frustration at that point, the quickloads were wearing out my F12 key. I was thinking this one was a 10 out of 10 up till that point and still do, just frustrated.:grr: PS I'd give my left testicle for a blackjack in this one!!

But remember to READ the ringleader's scheme. It's on the table in the attic.
And you have to read it before you find the ringleader's key.
Otherwise the game will end prematurely. It's a small "bug".
Good luck!

Stumped in Thief2-CTF. I can't find the switch to open the
hidey hole in the back of the closet on the second floor. At least, I think its a secret door - looks like one!

Anybody else have a problem with The Golden Skull of Lord Frob. I can walk around and when I get to certain places and look around the screen goes haywire. Also, if I backstab one of the haunts, the other haunt becomes alert, then the screen goes haywire and T2 crashes back to windows with a screwed-up video mode. There are 2 objectives, but the text doesn't show on the objective screen. I'm guessing all I have to to is (1) grab the skull and (2) get back out, so maybe I'll just skip exploring and try that next.
So, I've finished all but Mind Master (doesn't run, starts with a black screen), FireShadow's Barrow (starts with message about requiring scripts, which I haven't downloaded yet), and Golden Skull of Lord Frob (crashes).

Yes Brian, I too had the same problem with Golden Skull. I was able to get through it by just not looking at any area that was "haywire". It didn't crash if I didn't look too long at any of those areas. I accomplished it thusly:
sneak up to haunt across from skull and whack with one overhead sword thrust, wait for other haunt to calm down, hug left wall and sneak to skull, get skull and sneak back out same way.
Just stand still for a few seconds after you whack the guy. Do you have your T2 patched? :)

I can't get close enough to pick it w/o being discovered and I can't get past him. Here's a tactic but it involves a bit of luck.
While you're in a dark spot, preferably the same one from which you retrieved your picks, throw a crate across the room, hopefully all the way to the top of the stairs. The thief will search about in the direction of the noise and if you're lucky, you'll be able to slip past him into the window gable. Quickly pick the chest lock and retreat into the dark gable before he returns. Wait a bit for him to calm down, then throw the shovel as far as you can in the same direction as the crate and repeat your maneuver. Occasionally he will find you so quick save often.
Originally posted by Nightwalker trix, I just played Old Comrades and it worked fine. It ended properly.
When I went into the basement and pulled the switch, there was one explosion that tossed me across the room, then a second explosion that blew open the escape tunnel.
The first couple of times that I pulled the switch
the two sets of explosives went off simultaneously and killed me even though I was at max health (I took both healing potions). That made me think I had to do something else and I made several frantic attempts to get into the pagan's cell thinking that there was something in there that I needed.
