I just played Mindmaster for the second time and ran into a bug. I got to a point where the guy said I had 3 exact matches, then I changed one color and pressed the button and he said "ummm, let me see" but he never finished what he was going to say. Then I tried pressing the buttons, but none of them worked. I even tried to ring the bell again but nothing happend. Finally, I peeked under the cover and I saw that I had matched all of the colors correctly, but then the mission failed. The objective to match all of the colors was not checked but the don't cheat objective had a red X.

I'm just guessing here, but it's where I would start with the troubleshooting. It sounds like the doors are colliding with something and they're being put into a physical spin (probably rotation). I've seen this happen usually after an explosion, where an object hasn't has its Physics Model set to Location and Rotation being locked. I've seen a lot of times where an object was locked with Location controls on, but it was left to spin uncontrollably for many minutes because the Rotation wasn't set too. It's possible that's what's happening to the doors, but I don't know for certain.
I do know this "bug" popped up in Old Comrades, Old Debts, but it was just a piece of crate flinder that spun and bounced for five minutes after the big explosion and I finally just walked away and left it to bounce away on its own.

Eastwater Bank is frustrating because the architecture is great but the puzzle style is like a "where's waldo" book, all the relevant levers and switches are made as small as possible and put in obscure places, that's not fun, that's just frustrating. anyways, I've mostly finished but I can't find
the presidents stash where she hid the safe combo. RE: Lord Frobb.
in order to see ANYTHING when I started the mission I had to not only put my in game gamma up to about 90% but ALSO had to raise my monitor brightness to like 90%. that was kind of ludicrous.
I found my way downstairs, buy after killing
one of the haunts
the game started having clipping/visibility issues (like if you use noclip in a 3d game and go through walls, the way things repeat infinitley. then thief crashed (which is a first for me ever)

mind master was well done and it was cool to see that that could be done in-game.
I beat it in 7 turns, dunno if that' below or above average, or just average...

Can anyone help me? the colors only show up (and the game only begins) after you ring the bell on the left of the table
oh, and for those with trouble in a night's recourse- the trick is to circle strafe and to jump.

In fireshadow's barrow, can someone give me a clue as to how I leave the locked room where you obtain the crowbar? the tunnel I came from seems too high to reach and the crowbar doesn't seem to affect the door.
------------------nevermind- found the way out.

Brian_R170, that seems to happen to a number of people, including me. Either the game works or you get these strange "bugs", which are
- overlapping voices telling you different things
- the guy ignoring you completely
If he ignores you, you can be sure you've found the right combination. When you get overlapping voices, you're close. I could never finish the game the normal way, but whenever he ignored me, I had four matches
The reason for this is unknown.
Heh, I even deleted the CamVator in Dromed one time, so I could move. I walked around the table and peeked under the cover :D Then I entered the right combination in the first try. And again, he ignored me...:p

Neither I, nor my beta tester encounterd that problem. For us, the doors open and close many times just like any other type of door (of course, you need to remove the beam first). Can I have some details about this bug? Are the doors frobable? Do you frob them, but nothing happens? Are you stuck so that you can't back up? What? the problem I had was that the middle section went up to the right through the wall and the two side sections spun around in circles while blocking all entry. the workaround of restarting the mission and when dealing with the doors staying away as far as possible DID work for me.
oh, and a restart WAS necessary because when I 'used' the side pieces again all the did was continue to spin, and I could not frob the center piece as it had escaped through a wall into the ceiling.

I read the word "strafe" a lot of times now in connection with Thief, but because English is not my native language, I don't understand what kind of move it means and always feel like I've missed something important. Can somebody please enlighten me?
(oh, and I'm anxious to learn whose -erm- strange imagination came up with an idea like Night's Recourse :wot: )

strafe is a word used in 3d action games a lot. it basically means move left and right while looking forward. to circle strafe is to move left and right in a circle while looking at a target (who is in the center of your circle). strafing is used to be able to hit an enemy while making it hard for them to hit you.
I hope you could understand that

re: thief 2 capture the flag- the author must like Meagtokyo (an online comic), the 'capture the b33r'/capture the teddy bear thing is from there.
