'Strafe' is also "negatively-associated" with crude FPS's, and I don't like to subject my Thief-playing experience to such crass measures. ;) Thief should remain more sophisticated, more refined! :joke:
I don't like slugfest confrontations. :( Not in Thief anyway.
That's a BIG pic, vesuvius!!

that better hit deity?
I don't like strafing in Thief either, but given how many enemies were in that level, and how powerful they were, it was the only way I could beat it.

I was being just a little snippy, and didn't really mean any harm. (It was supposed to be a poke at how a game where you go around blackjacking people and robbing them blind could be taken as a "sophisticated" game. A kind of twisted irony.)
Your pic was fine, too, just on the large size. I'm just not used to seeing huge (non-screenshot) type pics here. And it is nicer to have a pic here than it is to have to link to it, but it's up to you. :thumb:
Great comic, btw, I saved it. :)

I strafe all the time in thief, I think it's just easier to move around that way instead of having to turn the mouse each time you want to change the direction you are moving.
Hehe, good comic. Deffinitely relevant. :)
I thought Night's Recourse was awesome and one of the most fun missions in the contest. The baddies went down in a few hits and really pose as more of a moving target than a danger. Haw can beating things to death with a stick while taking a break from the computer not be fun? ;)

If he ignores you, you can be sure you've found the right combination. When you get overlapping voices, you're close. I could never finish the game the normal way, but whenever he ignored me, I had four matches
The reason for this is unknown.
Heh, I even deleted the CamVator in Dromed one time, so I could move. I walked around the table and peeked under the cover :D Then I entered the right combination in the first try. And again, he ignored me...:p I tried it again today just to see if I could find a pattern for the behavior. I got to a point where he said I had 3 correct and 3 in the right place, then I changed one color I suspected was wrong and he said the same thing again, so I figure I've got at most two more tries before I win, but I flipped the color and hit the same button two more times and each time he said the same. So I finally got back around to where I was before and then he said I won. Man did I want to blackjack that cheating SOB :-)

I hope you could understand that
Yes, now I know what it means :thumb: And I used that move myself a lot already without knowing :D
I just couldn't make any sense of the word strafe for a move in Thief. Now I also know what "strafe jumping" is.

I just want to add my 2 cents to the Contest discussion. I downloaded all the missions and tried most of them, finished 2 or 3 of them. I just want to say such contest is a great idea and a superb opportunity to see new Thief missions. Good job!

From the pure taffin' player's perspective, Night's Recourse might be less charming than from the perspective of "after 50 dromed crashes this evening, I wanna beat something to death with a stick! Arrr!"

Well, I told myself I would stay out of the "Komag Kontest" thread so's there would be less speculation on which ones were mine. But I got tired of waiting.
