Xious:
I don't think you can open it. I tried cutting it open but that didn't work, so I'm assuming it's not meant to be open.

trix, I just played Old Comrades and it worked fine. It ended properly.
When I went into the basement and pulled the switch, there was one explosion that tossed me across the room, then a second explosion that blew open the escape tunnel. It's the one with the white spider in it. As soon as I entered that tunnel, the mission ended. Did you check to make sure that all your other objectives were completed first?
I can't figure out Mind Master, either. It's the same experience for me as trix is having. The spots on the table are just grey, I can't move and nothing I do makes anything happen. Help, anyone?

The mission uses the same technique used in act 1 and 4 of T7C, ie. you can look around but not move.
The things start off grey and when you ring the bell you get a little cover appearing. Then you can push the buttons to change the colours. Push the furthest right and you are told how close you are.
People seem to have had problems with the vocal parts, best advice, let the guy finish speaking before you push anything else.
Hope that helps.:D

This is a message from the author of "The Fireshadow's Barrow"
Nightwalker, Taliesin, Hit Deity,
Neither I, nor my beta tester encounterd that problem. For us, the doors open and close many times just like any other type of door (of course, you need to remove the beam first). Can I have some details about this bug? Are the doors frobable? Do you frob them, but nothing happens? Are you stuck so that you can't back up? What?

the problems with mind master are strange...
it works fine for me. i rung the bell once, the guy starts talking & after a couple seconds, the grey areas turn to purple lights that are then easily manipulated with the switches. he'll tell me how many are out of place/wriong colours and tell me when i've gotten them all correct. i wonder why it would work fine for me every time and so many people are having trouble with it. strange, indeed.

Komag, I can open the bar and set the doors going. The middle section revolves and vanishes, the two outside sections continue to revolve. If I try to get through the gap the outer triangles stick. I can frob them once I've stepped back and they revolve the other way.
I didn't think it was a bug, I just thought it was the way it was meant to be and I was simply not dexterous enough to sneak through.

This is message from the author of mindmaster:
I have no idea why it doesn't seem to work for some people. Things do get disabled when speech is going on, so that you can't force overlapping speech. There are TrapTimedRelays, which REQUIRE patched Thief 2, as Hit Deity discovered months ago, or they just won't work, that's all I can think of.

yes I finished all the other points (read every piece of text, too) -
I only can't reach the escape tunnel because of the wall refusing to break down despite all this dynamite (I can hear the spider hissing behind it) -
but I guess it's probably a problem similar to the Fireshadow triangle door, which I had to restart too. I wanted to replay the missions anyway for just judging...
Yes!!!
Finally get Mind Master running!
I installed and patched Thief2 completly anew - and voila! (Maybe there accumulates too much 'junk' with every mission one plays - and sensible missions need a wipe-out before?)
My opponent was very impressed about this success, he didn't dare to lie! I think I'll go having some more rounds with him...

It took a couple of restarts of Fireshadow's Burrow but i finally managed to get those doors opened.
To the author: I had 2 different types of problems with the doors.
1: The center triangle disappeared and the 2 side triangles started spinning around a horizontal axis as rapported by others.
2: The two side triangles opened normally towards me, but the center triangle opened away from me instead of towards me and got stuck on the rising floor effectively blocking the path forward.
They were always perfectly frobbable and i could also continue to frob them after they were opened (well not the center one when it disappeared of course :) ) Generally i moved away from the doors so that i had to lean forwards to frob them, so i never got stuck.

Taliesin, thanks for the detailed help. I think I'll re-download the mission, in case something was wrong with it and try again. My Thief is patched, so it's not that.
Komag, please tell the author of the mission that the time I had trouble with the doors, I used the crowbar, frobbed the doors and the center triangle did what it was supposed to. The two side ones, however, just kept spinning in place. I could click on them to stop them, but it seemed to be impossible to get past them. I tried re-loading from just before I used the crowbar, but the same thing kept happening, even though I was a considerable distance back from them. I then restarted the mission from the beginning and everything worked perfectly. (Up until the point where I've gotten stuck. I'm a little short on loot and I haven't figured out how to get out yet.:tsktsk: ).
